How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We did not understand that we could only have aircon on cool in winter, it got stuffy , but the manager came to our room and explained we could simply open a window to cool down. Easy. No outside noise to disturb our sleep. So we were happy with this solution.
The price was very reasonable. Free use of espresso machine from 1 pm to 8 pm. An unexpected bonus! The rooms were very comfortable- could do with new carpet, no other complaints. The hotel was so well located - only about 2 hundred metres to the train station and with lots of small restaurants in the nearby streets.

The hotel is a bit old
Location is perfect, just right accross the JR Station and bus Station. It is about 10 mins walk to city center. There are convenience store nearby, also several restaurants. Room is quite spacious. Staffs are nice, They let us borrow the umbrella when it rain and provide free coffe and tea at the lobby area.

- Conveniently located close to Takayama train station, and the bus station (with buses to Shirakawago). About 5mins walk or so. - Good spread of food for breakfast. - Rooms were big, the biggest during our stay in Japan. - Staff helped to fulfill my request to have our 2 rooms close to each other. In fact, they gave us an adjoining room (connecting room), which made it very convenient for our family of 4. - There's jacuzzi and sauna too!

We stayed here during the earthquake at beginning of 2024. The staff were amazing. They carried my bag up to my room and refused to leave it even though it was heavy and I said I was happy for them to leave until the lift was working again. Staff continued to be supportive, giving us great advice and ringing future hotels to check our luggage was ok to send. The beds were comfy (keep in mind most beds in Japan are harder than western), breakfast was simple but very lovely and the rooms had a lot of space which was wonderful after our cramped lodgings in the big cities. Thank you so much to the staff for a wonderful stay.

The location is fantastic. Hotel receptionist was great. Room space is my favourite. It is bigger than any hotel that I ever stayed before. hotel room was clean and I got new towels EVERY SINGLE DAY. I love it. If I would come back to takayama, I surely stay this hotel again.

We were traveling by car, and, apparently, the parking space was not wide/big enough for a toyota harrier. The paid parking lot nearby had one open space left, so no real problem.
The rooms were spacy, and the location was not too far from the station and the main street. Classic western breakfast.

The hot water supply is not stable when taking shower in peak hour and the breakfast is quite simple.
Location is convenient, just opposite to the bus terminal and JR station. There are many restaurants nearby. The room is spacious and clean. Staff are helpful.

Room was spacious and clean, there was air purifier in every room. Staff was very friendly. Only a short walk from Takayama station and morning market. We’re very happy with our stay here.

Even with the fan on, the bathroom remained a little humid after showering, which also then affected the bedroom.
The hotel was easy to access from the station and had plenty of food/coffee options nearby, while being a short walk from the main attractions in town. The staff were very friendly and we were able to store our luggage for a few hours after checking out. Breakfast had lots of options and was quiet during our day. The room was ample size for us to open and manage two suitcases.

The facilities were great - heaps of space and 2 plush beds. There was a free sauna and spa area which was refreshing and comfortable. The location was right next to the train station and bus terminal. Overall excelllent experience and excellent value for money!

Very good location. Good breakfast. Free parking until 11 am even you have already check out. I parked until 11:20 am and only 150 yen has been charged.
