Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe beds get very hot I was in the mixed dorm and had to use the bathrooms in the women only dorm. This means going through two coded doors (codes change daily) each time you need the sinks and showers. There was a toilet in the mixed dorm for women but no sink to wash hands afterwards. In future I wouldn’t stay in the mixed dorm as woman as it was quite inconvenient.
Really big lockers for our backpacks. Beds are comfortable.

JapanIt wasn’t the easiest to get, but that could’ve been a miscommunication due to language barrier. The admin office which would be the front desk in most places is in a different location to where the hostel actually is. It’s literally down the road, about a minute’s walk away, however like I said the staff was efficient, when we couldn’t make out the directions, even though she was alone in the office she walked us to the hostel and all was good.
The hostel was clean. The staff was great. The response was efficient, I’m referring to both messages and turnaround time of service. It was my first time at a hostel, however I travelled with a group of people who’ve been at hostels before and they said it’s the best by far.

JapanThey have this weird toilet seat cover. I’m not sure if that’s just a winter thing, cause I’ve only been there in winter. For a place that’s constantly occupied by multiple people, that can’t be hygienic.
Just like before, efficient staff. They accommodated our late checkin. Great location, walkable distance to Hirome market and public transport. If you just want to stay in, uber is available and delivers to this spot.

JapanThe staff was kind enough to stay after the check-in hours to accomodate us. The room was very spacious and clean and I really liked the set-up. It is ideal for large groups too. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were great. I also liked the location. We will definitely book again.
