Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesExtremely friendly staff that helped us with whatever we needed. This included early check-in, letting us take towels to Kinosaki onsen, and giving tips for the area. It was a great alternative to staying for a much higher price in Kinosaki itself, though be aware that trains don't run as often as they do in larger cities. Renting a car or staying for more than one night would be good if you wanted to do more in the area.

United StatesWe had a lovely time here. The owners are so sweet and warm and a fount of information. We really enjoyed the common area with fellow travelers. It felt like being in somebody's kitchen and living room together. It was nice to chat with other tourists for a change after staying in more private hotels. The price was great for our private room. There were plenty of very clean toilets and showers to share with other guests.

FranceMy favourite hostel in Japan ! Perfect to enjoy some days in Kinosaki, 15 min drive or train The house is located in some very narrow and pretty streets it makes the vibes perfects ! Everything is very clean, they have a lot of stuff to cook and a nice living room ! And the staff is amazing (Meg is fluent in English) ! One of the staff even ran under the rain to show me the parking spot, came back home to grab an umbrella and brought it to me 😭 Really love this hostel !

United KingdomNice location close to several Izakaya, restaurants, shops and only a short walk from Toyooka JR Station. Really great place to stay, especially if staying in Kinosaki Onsen is out of budget - this place is ideally located only a short train ride away. Owners Meg and her Mother who run the place are super friendly and accommodating. Everything is clean, beds are comfortable and well catered for with sockets in each bedspace. It's really helpful that little things are provided if needed, like charging cables in each bedspace, ear plugs, Toiletries etc. AC and Heater in the dorms too.

JapanLocation is very good near the station but there isn't much in the area, this is not the fault of the property. During my stay, another guest had a strong odor that kept me awake at night for quite a while before I had to spray some perfume on my area, again not the fault of the property or staff.
Staff was super friendly and accomidating. The 24 h acess is wonderful for people leaving early in the morning such as myself. The vibes and decorations was very good and the place was warm and clean.

Beds were so comfortable and they had all the amenities you might need while traveling even for a hostel. Would be more than happy to stay here again!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this very cute and comfortable little hostel. Meg was a lovely host and cooked us a beautiful home style meal and we also had some great local sake. Excellent value, highly recommend especially eating in! The other woman who checked us in was also very friendly and helpful. You can tell Meg and her mum care about real Japanese hospitality. Thank-you very much!

GermanyThe temperature in the 1F was really hot. There was no small chair or anything to sit on in the room.
The property, facilities (kitchen, shower) was great and kept really clean. The hosts Meg and her Mom were so kind and friendly to talk to. I loved the kitchen area/ lounge and you could store food in the fridge. The room and mattress were comfortable.
