Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceThe place was clean, quiet and well-located. The hosts did a good job when it comes to decoration and everything was labeled in English, it was really helpful. Hiroko and Kazu are very thoughtful, a little welcoming note was placed next to the door and she even offered me a ride to go back to the station for me to avoid having to carry my backpack on the way. Definitely recommend this cute hidden hostel.

MalaysiaHiroko was a hero to us as our flight was delayed 2 hours and we only reached Wakayama in the midnight. She offered us the ride to the hostel and welcome us with her warm heart and explained everything to us. The room is really tidy and she has prepared the futon for us! I really like it! Toilets are very clean! Very quiet neighborhood! Will definitely recommend others to stay!

This is a special hostel in Wakayama. Hiroko is so inviting and went over maps and the free bike rentals when we arrived so that we would know more about fun activities. The hostel is beautiful and clean. We loved staying there. We also really enjoyed being in Wakayama City and biking around to the castle, gardens and exploring around. It was a great location!!

Hosts are super nice and provided me with Infos for my sightseeing plans. They also helped me, when my luggage arrived a day later, so I could already be out and explore! The room is spacious, has everything you need and is clean. The futon was very comfortable. The hostel is conveniently located, a very good onsen is just around the corner. Would definitely recommend.

DenmarkThere is absolutely nothing to complain about... The only thing I got is that the walls are pretty thin, but then again I'm just a light sleeper.
I got picked up at the harbour, and brought to my room 2 house prior to my check-in. They said it was okay. The room was clean and ready. I got shown around and the lady even told me about good places to visit, eat and relax at. Super nice.

JapanMiss Hiroko was very accommodating and helpful. She offered to take me to the train when I checked out. The hostel was very clean (rooms, shower room, toilet, hallway) and the kitchen amenities were complete. It's recommended for those who value cleanliness and peacefulness just like the owner. Best for solo travellers and couples. Walking distance to the delicious ramen (Maruta-ya Ramen) which was recommended by the owner. Family mart is beside and bus stops are near. There's also free bicycle, I used it to go to Wakayama Castle.. Just 5minutes I guess. She even let me leave my baggage in the hostel after I checked out since I was still going around Wakayama city. Very very understanding and kind.

The hostel is very warm and comfortable and makes you really feel like home. I arrived in Wakayama earlier and Hiroko-san allowed me to check in early. She’s very kind and accommodating and she suggested good local eats around. The hostel is very clean and organized and space is fully utilized. Notwithstanding, my room is very spacious. You will not have problem with shared amenities. I will definitely stay here again.

GermanyThe hostel is 20 minutes walk from the train station. Since you are picked up by the owner, this is further no problem.
Before arrival, the owner contacted me and offered to pick us up from the train station. We were very warmly welcomed at the hostel. We were given tips for things to do in the area. The room corresponded to the pictures and was larger than expected. There was even a personalized greeting on the door. All the rooms were very clean and tidy. There was complimentary tea and coffee in the kitchen. In the hostel there are several showers and a washing machine that you can use at any time. At the hostel we could use the bikes there for free to explore the area. There is also a supermarket right nearby. At the end of our trip we were driven to the train station. This hostel is could highly recommend!

AustraliaThe hostel is 20 minutes walk to the train station which is a long way with luggage. There was a noise just outside my bedroom windows all night which made it difficult to sleep.
Communication was fast and clear. I was picked up from the train station. Host was waiting for me. Hosts speak beautiful English and they are so kind. So many facilities! Coffee and fresh cow's milk.

CanadaThe room was very nice, clean and comfortable. the facilities were super clean and there were free bike rentals which was amazing! Towels were included and there were enough showers. The only thing was the lack of a communal space but it wasnt too bad. The location was really good (20min walk to Wakayama JR station or theres a bus that takes you there) and there were many restaurants and shops in the area. There is a convenience store right beside the hostel.
