Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Amazing place with the best owner I have ever met since I am on booking (at least 20 years!) Hiroko is incredibly generous, passionate about people and her job. She is an excellent host! The place is super well located (just 7 ins away from the castle), family market 24/7 available just around the corner. Place is clean and spotless!

CanadaNothing really.
The hospitality of the host and the cleanliness made the stay a comfortable one. The hostel was a home for some decades, that tells by the interior structural set up but the host has turned it into comfortable hostel rooms and mindfully add quite some decorations along the hallways, public facilities and at least the big room we stayed. These give colours to it overall in a nice and decent way.

A small hostel, run by people who clearly love what they do. Everything was thought of; flyers in the room for every imaginable activity, bathrooms and kitchen equipped with everything one could need, and the owners are helpful and happy to answer any question

Hiroko was super helpful with any questions we had, and always responded super quickly. She was able to store our suitcases for 4 weeks while we travelled to another area. She also picked us up late at night from the train station when we first arrived, and dropped us off when it was time to leave. Such a wonderful host!

JapanNot something I didn't like, just an access note for people to know: The stairs to the second floor are very steep!
Hiroko-san was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and had great recommendations for what to do and how to get around Wakayama City. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and a great for the price and location. The kitchen facilities were very convenient. Shared bathrooms and showers were clean and comfortable. I recommend Wakayama as a city and prefecture to visit, and this is a great location to be able to walk to Wakayama Castle, the Wakayama Children's Science Museum, several other museums, a lovely river, and tasty ramen spots. If it hadn't been raining, I would have loved to use the bikes the facility offers to explore the area. This is also a great stopping over point for exploring other parts of Wakayama Prefecture. Thank you Tsukiji Hostel Wakayama!

SingaporeIt's cold at the common areas (corridors towards the toilet and in the toilet)
We were given the password of the hostel at about 9am that morning. We rented a car so there were two carpark lots available for us. We went into the hostel and our room. While we were settling down, the host came and introduced the facilities in the hostel. This was the first time we stayed at a place with shared toilet. I was quite worried about cleanliness but surprisingly, it was clean. There were 4 showering stations and 2 toilets in the hostel. The room was large enough for the 4 of us and our luggage. We were given enough blankets and warmers. There is a convenient shop just in front of the hostel and a supermarket 5 minutes walk from the hostel. The host was very kind and friendly. We were extremely thankful that she informed us that we had left some belongings at the hostel very quickly after we check out. Everything was smooth and we enjoyed our stay at Wakayama.

AustraliaThis is not something that the host can necessarily control. Be aware that guests may include families with young children who may not be considerate of other guests. Ear plugs will not block the noise. A hook or bar to hang clothes in the shower area could be helpful.
Hiroko is a wonderful host with many resources and tips to help a traveller orientate and find things to do, places to see and most important, where to eat! The room was comfortable with a fan and air-conditioning to keep cool in the summer heat and humidity. Laundry facilities, plenty of showers (4) and the kitchenette were handy. Loved having access to a bike to explore Wakayama. Convenient access to shops, food and local craft beer venues. Good location to get to Takijiri in the morning to start on the Kumano Kodo, if you don't want to stay in Tanabe overnight.

MalaysiaTiny entrance. Also tiny & steep staircase as our rooms were in second floor. One disappointing point (but not property’s fault)- the supposed to be shopping street next to it was dead (majority shops were closed down)
Cozy stay with friendly host. Room was spacious enough to fit 3 of us with luggages. Amenities are well ready for use. Shower room is clean

GermanyWe surely struck gold with this guest house & its owners. They were so friendly, warm & welcoming. Also, they responded super fast. The space was very clean & the fact that we didn’t have to wash our dishes was very convenient. Check-in was flexible & we got detailed info/recommendations tailored to our needs. My only regret is that I didn’t book a longer stay. Upon revisiting Japan, Tsukiji Hostel will be on my itinerary for sure ✨✌️😎
