Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelRooms are a bit small, but expected to be that way
Very close to the train station, the rooms are very clean and it's very comfortable. The bed was great and comfortable as well. The room is very small but still has a place to sit at with a table even.

GermanyHonestly, there wasn’t anything we disliked. Every aspect of our stay went smoothly, making it a pleasant experience from start to finish.
The location of the hotel is incredibly convenient, with a 7-Eleven right downstairs, making it easy to grab essentials. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. Both check-in and check-out were seamless, and storing our luggage was hassle-free. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, providing a great night’s sleep after a long day.

United StatesThe pillows were really stiff. Was hoping they would be more fluffy along with comforter. Also wish they had a little more bathroom amenities like the other hotels I stayed at. The area wasn't as bustling as Tokyo so it required further walking to find stuff open later.
The staff was really friendly. Plus the hotel was right across from Kyoto Station so it made transporting everywhere really easy. They also had a konbini ( convenience store) inside hotel building, which was great to grab before heading back up to room. The staff spoke English and was helpful in aiding in luggage delivery services. Overall really satisfied with my experience! Plus there was a mall with a Don Quixote next door! Very quiet area despite being near mall and station.

PeruSmall room (as expected within Japanese standards) so avoid large luggage.
Great facilities and excellent location being a few hundred meters away from Kyoto Station (10 minutes walk). There is a convenient store 7-11 with a rear door directly connected to the hotel, really convenient. Breakfast is fabulous if you are into Asian alternatives.

AustraliaThe bed came with only one pillow during my stay, but otherwise can be manageable. The bed is also firm if you don't mind that.
Excellent location being a few hundred metres away from Kyoto Station, making it easy to reach the Shinkansen as well as for basing yourself for day trips around. The room was suitably sized for Japanese standards, with a bidet toilet and shower bathtub combo. Being close to the main transport hub, it was surprisingly quiet in the room. All amenities are collected from the ground floor which you can always restock if needed. The TV is also chromecast enabled which is awesome.

Hong KongThe room is spacious, with a good city view and daylight. You could open the window to let the breeze in when weather is good or when you wanna know what s the temperature outdoor. I particularly like the toilet /bathroom design, with the bathtub, WC and basin area with individual doors , it allows family members using the facilities concurrently with privacy. The location is superb, I could reach the Kyoto station and its associated shops and restaurants within 5 min. walk. There is a convenient store 7-11 with a rear door directly connected to the hotel, you buy get all things you need even in a rainy day without getting wet.

The location is very convenient. A few steps to the Kyoto Railway Station and the city centre. There are lots of restaurants, 7/11 convenient stores, Starbucks, etc. nearby. The hotel is absolutely clean and the staff are so friendly. We are so impressed by their perfectionism. For the price we paid and what we got, it is unbelievable good value!

AustraliaNothing.
Staff were really helpful. We wanted to forward our suitcases to our next hotel in Tokyo and the receptionist helped us complete the forms and made the process super simple. Location superb near Kyoto station so easy to get around. I loved the breakfast as it had mostly local Japanese food (udon, tempura, soup, rice, curry) which was delicious.

United KingdomCoffee machine kept breaking during breakfast Air conditioning kept switching to 25° after 30 minutes, so we would wake up hot in the night. Breakfast was ok, but after 4 days, we decided to opt for 7/11 instead. Wouldn't book with breakfast again next time.
Great location, a short walk to the station. Big rooms in comparison to all the others we have stayed in Japan. Comfortable big bed Breakfast was ok, big selection available to choose from

Australiajust a bit disappointed with the breakfast, it is great for Asians, a lot of food for them, so many, I never saw a hotel with the variety provided, but for the ones like me that enjoy a good coffee, bread, cheese and fruit was disappointed. Very small options. But if you ok to eat spaghetti, fish and chips in the morning you will be ok
I booked a deluxe twin room and it was so nice and big compared to other rooms in Japan. We were very surprised and the hotel location is amazing, 2 min walk from kyoto station and 5 min walk to a shopping mall. Lots of place to eat around and 7 eleven inside the hotel. It was 10 out 10.

United StatesThe breakfast area is on the smaller side. There are no drawers for the clothes in my room.
The location is perfect. The building is very quiet because it is behind a hotel which is on the busy street. A convenience store is connected to the hotel on the ground level. The housekeeping staff leave a bag of towels on a door handle on the day you decline room cleaning service. Everything works well, especially the fan in the bathroom.

We loved our spacious rooms at Via Inn Prime in Kyoto. It was such a treat after coming from the tiny rooms of Tokyo. The pyjamas were super comfortable also, the drip coffee was fantastic and staff very helpful. The location was also perfect, just across the road from Kyoto Station and 40 minute walk downtown past the temple.
