Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongWould need to confirm you would have dinner that night between 5-6 pm (dinner at 7 pm), need to be back early for this one thing.
Transportation: 1. Takes you about 1 hour from Odawara station, with the bus (T 桃園台線) to the stop 仙石原文化センター. Check the bus timetable on https://www.hakonenavi.jp/transportation/station/ Extra info: Would be convenient for travellers if purchase Hakone Freepass (3 days) or Fuji Hakone Pass (3 days) in advance from Odakyu website. We used Fuji Hakone Pass (since we were going to Fuji the next day) and did not need to pay any extra fee when taking the buses and other transportation needed. Room 101: downstairs, next to the two private Onsens. Large, and very clean. Private onsens: free to book during check-in, can book one more on the next morning. Love the outdoor onsen, people with tattoos would not get rejected!! Dinner and Breakfast: exceptional!! Better enjoy the dinner after the onsen.

United StatesWonderful experience! If you are looking for a traditional, clean, and a stay with a delicious meal, this is the place to stay. My husband and I did a one night stay at this beautiful Ryokan and enjoyed a half board stay which included dinner and breakfast. I cannot tell you enough how GREAT the meal was. It is a colorful array of plates with the most exquisite food selections all brought to your beautiful adorned table. Additionally, very convenient after a long travel day through the mountains, your body will thank you! The front desk and dining personnel were wonderful hosts. The onsen is fantastic, very clean, private for your use. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

United StatesWe arrived during a busy time, and the only way to the location was by bus or taxi. With the former, it takes about an hour to get to the location. So plan to stay a couple days, if you want to see the sights in Hakone too.
All amenities were provided, so you only need to bring the basics. The room was great with comfortable futons. Dinner and breakfast were amazing kaiseki spreads. The onsen tho... Fantastic. Water temperature was perfect, and my skin never felt softer.

ItalyBath was a bit small and time schedule is very tight, at times a bit too tight but nothing that negatively impacted our stay.
The structure is well organised and well maintained. The room was spacious, bathroom a bit tight tho. The amenities were amazing, showing a lot of care from the owners that we really appreciate. The Onsen itself while it might not be visually stunning is relaxing and absolutely lovely to spend time in. Breakfast was amazing! F antastic food, great service and lovely visuals.

United StatesIt took us a few try to get the heater work.
Friendly staff helped arranging best time for 2 meals and the 2 private onset session. I think it was not stated clearly on the booking.com and we are surprised that we can have 2 private onsen sessions. For the breakfast and dinner, the food are very delicious, huge portion that we just feel like the dishes just never ended. One of the staff can speak Mandarin and he is very helpful.

There were many things to like about our stay at Yamanoshou. From the private onsens which you can book at reception to the lovely and helpful staff and to the traditional style rooms. My favourite out of all the features of our stay was undoubtedly the kotatsu in our room which made our winter stay all the more comfortable. The futons were also exceptionally comfortable and we all slept like logs each night. The breakfasts also came with a wide array of things, our only regret was not booking dinner at the same time as they were fully booked out! The rooms were also spacious and our windows opened to an impeccable view of the mountains.
