The breakfast meal was amazing. The staff were all patient, kind and accomodating. Our room was STUNNING, and all the facilities, decor and amenities were top notch. I was blown away.

Bit of a downside is that the location is a little far away from restaurants and shops. It’s a good 15 min walk into the centre of the town. Having a car helps with parking fees ranging from 400Y-500Y per entry.

Its modern vibes with Japanese aesthetics really appealed to me. The villa we stayed in was beautifully decorated with all the modern amenities including a Dyson hairdryer. We really enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor baths. Breakfast was an elaborate affair, food was delicious and a visual treat and the servers were so polite and attentive.

The private onsen was amazing, and the hotel grounds were very well maintained and beautiful with many plants and flowers. The design was nice with bamboo and real wood structures. The staff were great, but especially Saito-San went above and beyond.

Restaurant was closed on Wednesday that we arrived. Every other restaurant within walking distance was also closed at 5:30, except Hirochan.

Meals were excellent but pricy and very large. My wife could not finish her meals. Still, recommend eating at least one breakfast and dinner during a stay for the experience. Our room was very roomy with two floors and both an indoor and outdoor private onsen. This was the main reason why I chose this ryokan.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The staff were so friendly and helpful and surprised us with a beautiful cake celebrating our honeymoon! The room was immaculate and so nicely made up with great views and excellent use of space with so much storage. Excellent amenities and super comfy beds. The bathroom with private indoor/outdoor onsen was fantastic. The staff helped us book massages and taxi transfers. A perfect quiet retreat during our busy trip to Japan.

The property and the rooms are beautiful with your own private open air onsen as well as an indoor one. Loved the traditional feel of the rooms with modern elements, like the dyson hairdryer and the nespresso machine! But above all that is the staff here, they really went above and beyond to make us feel very special. The Kaiseki dinner was also incredible and so delicious. This was an amazing experience and was the highlight of my husband and I's honeymoon. Thank you Oni No Sumika!!

Beautiful traditional style tatami suite with a king size bed. Glorious garden view and private onsen. Staff were amazing. There was a mix up with dinner but they apologised profoundly and refunded us a substantial amount for the dinner. The traditional Japanese breakfast more than made up for it.

There is nothing that I could report on here. It was a perfect stay!

From the minute we arrived at Oni no Sumika it felt incredibly special. I've always dreamed at staying at a traditional Ryokan and this exceeded all of my expectations. The grounds are beautiful, with water flowing through and between the paths to the rooms. It is a very beautiful, serene setting. In the room we had a private outside onsen bath, which was very special! There was also another private onsen bath inside. The room was beautifully furnished and had great amenities (including a face care kit and a Dyson hair dryer). The large bed was very comfortable. The food was absolutely incredible - some of the best we have ever had. It was great to hear about the regional specialities from the staff as we were served each course. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and communicated via translator devices, which was great. You felt they wanted to make the effort to connect and make your stay special. The local area was very charming, with some great spots for hiking within driving distance and lots of quaint shops in Shuzenji itself.
