Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

TaiwanPrivate bathroom felt fairly old but one comes for the hot spring bathing anyways.
Staff were friendly, dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the hot spring baths were jaw dropping

United KingdomMy partner and I had seen the high rating on this hotel and decided to book a few days here as a luxurious treat to round off our trip to Japan. We were very much looking forward to it and had good expectations given the price, so we were pretty disappointed when the actual experience fell short on a few fronts. The food quality was not what we expected for a £300 a night hotel - whilst it was interesting to try 10 course traditional Japanese cuisine, many of the dishes were not cooked to the quality we expected. We both found several of the dishes bad in quality rather than just average in fact. At the end of our stay we were actually looking forward to not having to eat the meals anymore. Whilst the large outdoor bath was stunning, and I (F) got to enjoy it during the afternoon, which was ideal timing, but my (M) partner was restricted to after 10pm (when it's dark and it can't fully be seen), or early morning before breakfast (not ideal when aiming to rest and recharge sleep on our holiday). The second onsen area is a little disappointing by comparison. The baths were a large part of the reason for our stay and it was only when we arrived that we realised that the schedule set out basically meant that my partner was very restricted on his use of them. Finally on our second day we were relaxing in our room at 10am and incredibly loud construction work started in the next room over, which carried on until 3pm. Whilst I appreciate repairs occasionally need to be made, we had booked this hotel as a retreat away to relax and the work forced us out of our room to a nearby cafe. We were also not warned of this ahead of time which would have arrived least allowed us to plan to be out during that time.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The rooms are large and clean. The large outdoor onsen was amazing.

AustraliaDinner service was awfully slow on our second night, presumably because there was a party next door. It was like we were forgotten.
Tremendous service, atmosphere, cleanliness. A great experience. Reception staff were very warm. Best onsen.

United StatesThe facility looks awful when approached from the outside. Once inside it’s a different world. Stunning craftsmanship and a beautiful lobby and tea area
The Insen. Wonderfully relaxing. Could have stayed there for hours

United StatesThe futon and pillow were very uncomfortable and the bathroom needed to be updated in my room. Understanding that I am used to western beds and rooms, I’d prefer the futon to be softer.
The private onsen was top notch! Everything was new and well maintained and lots of options. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly.

SingaporeOverpriced for what you are getting. And I say this after having stayed in many ryokans across japan. Food was average. While most of the public hotel areas such as the lobby, hotel lounge and dining rooms were renovated nicely, those not so directly outward facing parts were outdated. For example, the public toilets were a sight out of the 80s or 90s. The bath fittings at the public onsens were also old and leaky.
Traditional ryokan charm. Good service by the staff. One of the public baths (momoyama) was really quite impressive for its traditional look and size.

United StatesThe building itself and many of the facilities were old. It was WAY overpriced for what it was. Our room had blank walls, but with hooks, as if artwork used to be there but it was taken down? Barely any decorations in our room. I felt we were given a room for "foreigners," who have likely, in the past, destroyed rooms, and so we were given the same blank/dreary room.
The lobby was very pretty and unique. The meals were great!

PhilippinesIt seems they put Japanese and foreigners on separate floors. Perhaps their guests are not comfortable with foreigners or maybe the staff or management are not comfortable. Also, some of the front desk staff are really nice but one in particular, an older lady, was not nice and seemed very impatient / seemingly angry when we were checking out, not at all what you would expect from a ryokan of this caliber.
Honestly the place could have been 10/10 but I feel that it would be unfair after staying at similar property called Hotel Shoho which is a far superior ryokan / japanese style hotel than this hotel. The food is really fantastic in this hotel and most of the staff, the housekeeping etc are of a top caliber and even most of the front desk are good except one staff.

Hong KongThere is a construction opposite the hotel. It is noisy during the day and might be like this for a year or two. The room is not that well kept and has some dirty corners.
The bath / onsen is large and its wooden structure is well maintained. Futon / bed is clean and comfy. Breakfast and dinner are amazing. Staffs are very helpful although they might not be fluent in English.
