Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe weren't told that we had to reserve breakfast by 6pm even though we arrived at 9am to drop luggage off. Not sure how we were supposed to know unless we missed something.
Amazing facilities and beautiful hotel. Room was warm and had many details that made it very convenient. The baths were excellent and provided good recovery after a crazy weather weekend. Nice little extras like late night ramen and onsite bar. Location was really close to ski hire, the station and a shuttle bus stop

United KingdomWow! What an amazing experience, this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! Convenient location right next to the train station and a short walk to the chair lift, makes this hotel an ideal location for a short ski trip from Tokyo. The rooms were large, modern and spacious with lovely traditional details throughout, and great views across the mountains. The Onsen was beautiful and the whole hotel was very clean and exceptionally maintained. After finishing in the Onsen, the complimentary ice cream was a lovely added bonus. Would recommend to anyone visiting Japan for a luxury stay for a short weekend skiing!

Hong KongThe standard double room was on the smaller side and the lack of a dehumidifying/drying facility posed some challenges to us when we had a very wet snow day. Our clothes didn't completely dry in the night.
I liked the tatami-style room and the design of the mini bar. The mini bar is a very unique facility that was provided in the standard double room and the family room, allowing us to make our morning breakfast and coffee without the need to run into the toilet for fresh water constantly.

TaiwanEverything is so perfect! A very comfy and clean Japaneses style hotel, we love it a lot! The snack bar on the 6th floor is a perfect match after having hot spring and the breakfast is quite good as well. Location is quite good, 3-5mins from Echigo Yuzawa station by walk only. We will certainly come back again.

JapanRoom had packaged unground coffee beans, and has hand-powered coffee grinder, which is unique, and cute I suppose, but I would have preferred packaged ground coffee...or even good instant.
Breakfast was great! Delicious Japanese breakfast. Coffee available in room and at the entrance to the restaurant.

AustraliaNothing - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!
Absolutely loved our stay here! We came during the snow season and there were free shuttles to and back from the slopes right next to the ryokan. Inside the ryokan, there are 3 private onsens so the wait wasn’t long at all - we managed to try all 3 private onsens during our stay. The ryokan also provided free yakult, desserts and ramen at different times of the day. We also had free yukata rentals that we could wear in the lounge area and to the onsens. The ryokan also has a bar inside!

SingaporeFamily of 4 pax with 2 children age 5&7. We love our stay very much! Hotel is really near train station, theres free shuttle service too. Hotel is really clean, every guests are required to take off shoes and they even cleaned our luggage wheels upon entering, i love the concept. However the area for us to wear shoes is small hence it can be quite of a hassle when it is crowded. There’s free yukata rental, free drinks at the lobby, popsicle and ramen (within specific time). Hotel has everything we need and we had a great time relaxing. Our room is really spacious with a traditional bath tub my kids enjoyed alot. Kids also have their own separate room to sleep, love this privacy. We went for public bath, private bath, it such a great place to unwind after a day of snow play. The breakfast and dinner kaiseiki spread were sumptuous. It was an excellent stay and we highly recommend anyone to try it! Do remember to book in advance!

The beautifully created traditional aspect of the hotel combined with the proficient, always attentive and courteous staff made this a stay of wonder and discovery. The wonderful amenities in the room, the decor and quality of fittings, the propertie’s onsen ( health spa) and an amazingly well presented traditional breakfast, all combined to make it very special
