Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe Hotel is 40 minutes walk from the Bus station. One would not want to walk there with your luggage (it was snowing when I arrived at the bus stop at about 1 pm). The first shuttle leaving the Bus Stop to the Hotel is 3:10 pm. It would be good the shuttle buses runs a bit more frequent.
The set dinner that I paid extra for (8800 yen) was excellent. The view from my room was to die for! The Onsen inside the Hotel is the best I've ever been to.

JapanOnsen is nice, both a big public bath and a private bath are available, good temperature. However, in a changing room the onsen facility smells damp and musty.
I was impressed with the dinner and breakfast. Everything is delicious and it feels like a local taste from some of the dishes. I suppose some of the dishes taste a bit salty though, it's ok. it's a Japanese local mountainous region. That is also a part of local taste.

Malaysialunch and dinner MUST be prebook if not staff will leave you hungry. how is it possible to not have any ingredients in the kitchen? no additional eggs? rice were measured exactly for the whole day? we find that a tad bit ridiculous? they did suggest a nearby restaurant but it was too dark for 2 ladies to walk.
Clean, spacious and the beds were so comfy. one female staff in particular, went above and beyond for us which we were really thankful for.

Malaysia1) There either was no shuttle or the driver did not go into the tourist information center to check for customers like they are supposed to (as confirmed by the accommodation. 2) It wasn't clear to me that I had to or how I could've booked for dinner. I thought we were supposed to choose time slot upon checking in. As a result I went hungry for the night since there was no other restaurant open for dinner within 1km walking distance. It's dark around the hotel as well. There was supposed to be a restaurant that typically opens but wasn't on that day so I did make the walk.
Good room, good baths which was what I was there for. Friendly staffs. Good Japanese breakfast. Staff spoke basic English to explain the food options. Do wait for certain food to be heated up first though.

United KingdomThis is not a 5-star hotel. This is a 3-star at best. Everything is basic. Nothing luxurious. Also, be aware that you have to book ahead for breakfast or you won't be allowed in.
The location is good.

RussiaIt was impossible to sleep in the room normally. We had a suite with two rooms for 4 guests. First, there were two paper windows between the rooms without any sound insulation, so you can hear every minor noise in other room. Second, a crazy air temperature controller with a 30C default setpoint. You can change it to a comfortable setting, but after 2-3 hours it returns back to 30C. You wake up and have to go and adjust temperature again and again. Third, motion sensor for light in the corridor + paper windows in doors. So, if anybody visits a restroom, lights go on, and lit up your dark room.
Clean and spacious hotel, with perfect amenities included: beautiful public and private baths with stunning views, bar with beverages and snacks, all free of charge. Kaiseki-like breakfast as you can get in a ryokan.

AustraliaIt doesn’t feel authentic, just Japanese decor in a hotel not a ryokan that offers omotenashi. The meals are in a (partitioned) and noisy food hall-like set up, the private onsen time is an unbookable free for all and the two other onsen really not sufficient for the many, many people who stay there. The shuttle driver was not friendly in the least and seemed weary of tourists. The experience is certainly not consistent with the really high prices charged, but it is a major tourist town so the hotel investors are probably making the most of that.
The kitchen was closed by the government due to a food poisoning outbreak and the staff worked very hard to bring in meals from outside to feed everyone. They did refund meal costs to compensate.

ItalyImpossible to get to the hotel before 9 am and after 17.30pm, it will be better to let the client know. Apart on this, When The hotel have bus shuttle you have to reserve it for the 8.30 one. They said me the bus was full with 6 People and i lost my connectiob and my tickets, after that When i get into the bus i see that they had place for 9 ppl. Is impossible that a hotel with that much room don’t have the way to leave 8 clients at the same time to the bus station.

PortugalActually I didn’t like being told upon arrival that I could not have breakfast because I hadn’t scheduled before hand. The price of the room was high, for the remote location and the service. The hotel needs a freshen up.
The onsen. The room was very god, but you can tell the hotel needs some renovations. The view from the room and the peace and quiet.

ItalyWhere to start? The personnel does not speak English and those who do have been abrasive and uncooperative. I wouldn’t say that it is connected to the Japanese culture. It just seems they are fed up with tourists (which I might agree with, but then don’t work in that field). They contacted us in advance warning us that restaurants around the hotel might have been closed and suggesting to book dinner and breakfast with them. Without providing other details. We agreed, thinking it would have been similar to other hotels we have stayed. Not so. We have been informed only upon our arrival that the both for dinner and breakfast we would have been given a fixed time slot, and whilst for dinner it was ok, 7:00 or 7:15 for breakfast decisively was not. The food: it is only traditional Japanese. Which might be great for dinner but again, for breakfast not so, unless you fancy starting your day with a dozen of serving of raw eggs, rice, pickled vegetables, smoked fish, and mushroom soup. Again, all good if told in advance, but not so. For the rest, it was ok, the room was spacious, clean, and you have the chance to choose your pillow in a storeroom. No shoes are allowed in the entire structure. The hotel is far far away from the unesco site, here are that after a certain hour there are no public service buses, and the streets are completely dark. Not an endearing half-hour walk. Super expensive for what it’s worth.
The hotel is one of thise big, grandiose, structures of a merrier past: think of the hotel in twin peaks, but where things look like frozen in time like in the Shining’s end photo. And this is the positive part.
