Unfortunately when we went in early April only one restaurant in town was open. The front desk had an amazing list of places with a map to help, but their English was very limited and they didn’t understand when I said all of them were closed for some reason. The lack of restaurants is something people should know when traveling to Onomichi during cherry blossom season. The town was essentially shut down during the week and yubune does not have a restaurant attached. SOIL across the street had one open but only open to guests on Wednesdays.

The beds were super comfy. There was amazing high quality juice, coffee and tea in the room. The onsen was amazing and so nice to be able to walk to it in the clothes they provide in your room.

We were hot and wanted to use the air conditioning but we were told it was not possible so I was uncomfortable trying to sleep. The staff had to unlock the window with a key which is weird. I made sure to ask in advance if the hotel could ship our bags same day to Matsuyama. They said yes but then when it came time to ship the bags they said it wouldn’t arrive until the next morning and they did not apologise for the wrong information and I had to request that they help me find a way to get it there same day (which they eventually did but they certainly didn’t offer in the first place. It was also almost double the cost)

The spa alternates days between men and women so one gender can miss out during a short stay like ours.

The staff was extremely welcoming. Loved the location, a short walk from the waterfront and near cafes and the rest of the town. Nice facilities in the room: coffee, teapot, fridge.

Slept like a log in our gorgeous peaceful room with simple Japanese styling and well designed pale wood interior. Onsen was fab and spotlessly clean. Kind staff helped us forward our baggage to next hotel. Had outstanding dinner and breakfast at SOIL Setoda.

Perfect location for an overnight stay whilst cycling the Shimanami Kaido. Excellent Onsen facilities to soothe any cycling aches. Bed, pillows, ensuite and room size were the best we have experienced on our Japan travels.
