Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere were many rules and regulations, and everything 'extra' had to be paid for (ex. Towels, drinks, toothbrush, filling more than your alloted amount of rubbish bin). The energy from the owner was strict and unpleasant. Communication was hard due to language barrier which I think increased the tension. I think for Japanese guests it will be more enjoyable. Location is not great, food options are limited. But your are 1min from the beach. Make sure to read the check-in rules before arrival, the host expects a specific routine. Bathroom and kitchen is shared with 3 other family rooms, so it can get awkward and busy.
I had the 3 futon room, it was very comfortable and clean. My windows looked out onto the street and could be opened wide. Little floor table and chairs in cupboard. The bathroom is fantastic, you can have a little private sento experience. There is kitchen. 1 min from the beach where you can see Mt Fuji (as pictured). So many motorbikes in Numazu! For me this was great to witness.

GermanyVery complicated check in, you have to go to a different location and then get rough explanations in Japanese on how to get to the actual accomodation which is a few streets away and can be tricky to find.
Cheap, friendly staff, clean. Great value.

Australiastaff and check in were quite difficult to deal with, parking space was an extra 1000yen turning it from a good value to an average value, location is not great, don't recommend if you can't speak Japanese, towel/toothbrush/rubbish disposal etc all have extra charges and it just feels like they are trying to suck as much money out of you as they can.

IrelandFirstly, we noticed a lack of bare cooking essentials such as sugar, salt, and oil. This made it challenging for us to prepare our meals, as these items are typically expected to be available in a shared kitchen. It would have been more convenient if these essentials were provided, as it would have allowed guests more flexibility in their cooking options. Additionally, we found that many amenities, including towels, toothbrushes, and even water, came with extra charges. While we understand the hostel's desire to gain additional revenue, it felt inconvenient for these items to be priced separately. It would have been more guest-friendly if some of these necessities were included as complimentary, as it would have added value to the overall experience and created a more welcoming atmosphere.
During our trip to Japan, we decided to take a break from the usual tourist spots and immerse ourselves in everyday Japanese life. That's when we came across the Ikyuuan hostel in Numazu town, where we planned to spend a night. This hostel allowed us to explore the local restaurants and appreciate the beautiful scenery in the area. Ikyuuan Hostel offered comfortable stay hostel amenities that catered to our basic needs. The air conditioning was undoubtedly a relief, especially during the warm days. The shared kitchen and toilets were convenient and well-maintained, allowing us to prepare our meals and use the facilities without any use. It was a nice touch to have a TV in both the kitchen and the room, giving us some entertainment options during our downtime. The beds at Ikyuuan were bunk beds with clean sheets, ensuring a decent level of comfort for a good night's sleep. The traditional seating and tatami mats added a touch of authenticity to the overall experience, immersing us in Japanese culture and providing a unique ambiance. The Ikyuuan hostel in Numazu town offers a decent place to stay, allowing guests to experience everyday Japanese life and explore the local area. The air conditioning shared kitchen and toilets, and comfortable bunk beds with clean sheets contributed to a satisfactory stay. The traditional seating and tatami mats added to the charm of the hostel. However, the absence of essential cooking ingredients and the additional charges for amenities like towels and toothbrushes felt slightly inconvenient. Nonetheless, Ikkyuan provides a reasonable option for budget travelers looking for a simple and authentic accommodation experience in Japan.

JapanLocation is a bit difficult to find. Parking lot is around the corner, a 200 m walk from the place. Facilities are all new, it is a renovated traditional house, with tatami and futon beddding. Kitchen is a bonus, we made our family breakfast!
