Cons (personal opinion): shower room does not have a place to hang the shower head; only find small tea cups (no big cups for teeth brushing).

The owner is very friendly and super helpful as well as considerate! The location is awesome, close to lots of seneric places! Room (family room) is spacious and very Japanese style. My mum asked me to emphasize that she likes the owner very much because of his hospitality! Lol 😂

The location is perfect. Within walking distance to major attractions. After two weeks of travelling around Japan we are happy to have a fully equipped kitchen and cook ourselves)

The familyroom is small when all futons are rolled out and we all were in with our bags. That being said, we knew we could expect this as it is an old house in the Gion neighbourhood, where houses are small. So, to me, nothing negative!

Lovely old house with lots of little unexpected spaces. This starts already at the entrance. Communal rooms beautiful decorated. We had a family room. Simple but made if beautiful materials and convenient. Hiro made us feel welcome and was helpful explaining the city. Communal kitchen was comfortable and spacious. Nit sure how, but the sharing of the space went perfect. We had family breakfasts without others. If you go, don't forget to check out the slmost hidden tiny space overlooking the garden!

It was beautiful and quiet. Near the different spots in Kyoto and just a few minutes drive from Kyoto Station. The manager/owner, Hiro, is very helpful and great in explaining everything. Our transfer to another room was made easy as he offered to move our things for us, which made exploring Kyoto more enjoyable and smoother. The rooms were amazing, we got a chance to stay at 3 different rooms and all were exceptional. Would book here again when we go back to Kyoto.

The location is in a historic part of town, beautiful area. Walking distance to shrines, restaurants and shops. The staff was super helpful and even let us store luggage after our stay so we could leave Kyoto late that day without being encumbered.

Incredibly beautiful home. It was a privilege to stay here, and get a glimpse of Gion behind the facade! Great to have a larger room available for our five person family to be able to stay together in one room. Kitchen facilities available (though we always ate out), beautiful courtyard garden to see in the morning while drinking tea. Awesome bath tub. Really kind, helpful and welcoming host. Couldn't imagine a better place to stay in Kyoto!

A hidden gem in Kyoto, we would highly recommend this guesthouse. The place has a wonderful, rustic and authentic feel in the heart of the Gion district with easy access to many temples and shrines in the area. Perfect was walking the enchanting ally ways at night lit by lanterns and cosy food spots. Moreover, Hiro is an exceptional host, kind, welcoming and will go above and beyond for his guests. A+++

Just a tiny tip: Do not bring big heavy luggage as there is a high stairs only, even though hiro carried all of it we felt very bad for bringing so much 🙈

A beautiful traditional Japanese accommodation. With the fish pond in the middle, the rain and the dark nights created this out of a movie stay. Hiro is super kind and helpful. And the location is amazing!!

There was nothing at all to fault!

We booked the quadruple room with private bathroom, but just for the two of us. There was nothing to fault. The room was spacious and clean, the shower was great, the location could not be any better! The host was super friendly and helped us with restaurant options as we both have some food restrictions. The house itself is an attraction itself and enhanced our experience in Kyoto - so well and nicely decorated and maintained. We loved every minute of it!

You will likely have to use the shared restroom with other guests, some of which might leave a mess around sinks, showers, and toilets. Hiro keeps it clean, it just depends on if you have to use these facilities right after someone else who isn't considerate of others.

I don't think there is a better location to stay in Kyoto, a 15m walk to more than a dozen interesting places. Shrines, shopping, restaurants, the river etc. An absolutely unbeatable value as well. Very comfortable bed in the 'western double' room on the back side of the second floor. Cold AC was great after being out walking around all day in the hot and humid weather. The inner garden is beautiful as well!

We loved our stay here and felt like we were at a home away from home. Hiro was an excellent host and the location was excellent in the historic Higashiyama District. The rooms are basic but clean and spacious.
