Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We absolutely loved staying at this Royken for our honeymoon! We stayed for 2 nights, which was perfect to explore Kyoto and take the most out of the room and the onsen. Taku and his staff were so wonderful, kind and very helpful. The room was spotlessly clean, and Taku made sure we knew everything about the room and the best spots to go explore near the Ryoken. Upon check-in, we realised we made a mistake with our booking through booking.com but Taku kindly fixed it for us. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!!

ItalyAs this is a traditional Japanese ryokan, breakfast is Japanese style. You can like it or not but this makes the experience more authentic. If you are used to a different kind of breakfast you have to consider going to a nearby cafe (there’s plenty around) or get something at 7Eleven and bring it to your room.
Your cozy home away from home! I could not recommend more staying at Gion Oyado Kikutani, the location is the best in town and the rooms are fantastic. You feel like teleported in old Kyoto. Huge benefit is the private onsen in the room. Staff is amazing

United KingdomThe listing said we'd get a Japanese breakfast to enjoy in our room each morning of our stay. When we arrived we were given a voucher for a cafe down the road for our first morning and told we'd get a bento box on our second morning. The bento was great; this is what we had expected for breakfast each day of our stay. The cafe breakfast was not such a good experience. It was not that close to the hotel (not on the same street) and we had to queue for a table. The food was not a traditional Japanese breakfast and in our opinion fairly poor. This was a shame as everything else about our stay had felt good quality.
Wonderful location; beautiful traditional street and surrounding area. Fairly close to the station, although with big rucksacks, the walk was a little difficult. We decided to get a taxi back to the station after our stay. The host was friendly and spoke good English. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The coffee and teas provided were good quality and appreciated. All toiletries were provided. The bathroom was lovely. Taking a bath was incredibly relaxing and calming. The soft PJs provided were so nice to wear in the room, we wished we could keep them. You are paying for the location and the little details with this hotel. It feels very traditional and has an overall relaxing feel. It's modern inside but has kept some traditional features so you get the best of both worlds.

We had a one night stay here before heading to Osaka. Check in was quick and pleasant and the receptionist was extremely helpful with answering our questions and organising an early taxi for us along with packing up bento box breakfasts for us for our onward journey. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the deep wooden bath was fabulous to soak in after a long day of sightseeing. Would definitely stay here again.
