Although I enjoyed my bed, I expected a more authentic experience, so assumed it would be on the floor. Its a bit of a pain in the ass with the bus to Kyoto station 206 is insanely crowded and often drives past you when full. so the location made us stress when leaving to get our train. we missed the breakfast.

The place is stunning, the bathroom is great, gardens are nice.

This hotel is great for a wonderful experience in Kyoto. The staff is very nice, helpful and speaks english very well. It has great location so everything is close by walking and it is in a safe area.

Our stay was amazing. The room was nice and spacious with great vibes. The bathroom/ shower was so relaxing and clean. The staff spoke English very well, which helped us to find out more about Kyoto. The location was perfect for us. Quiet and peaceful. It was our favorite stay in Japan.

The hot tub was beautifully set up & absolutely wonderful after a long day of walking and seeing the sights and the whole bathroom was spacious. The lovely tea cups made of fine china were a delightful touch. The gardens outside and overall sense of calm were fabulous.

Really nothing—just note that the location can be a bit hard to find, even for a taxi driver, be sure to give yourself some extra time if arriving by foot.

Loved the location and the traditional ryokan feel of the room, they also added a futon for our teenage son which was very comfortable. Staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly and spoke English well. It was our favorite place during our entire 2 week stay in Japan.

After a week of walking the Nakahechi pilgrimage path, we had laundry to do. No onsite facilities, but a coin-operated laundry was just 5 minutes away by foot.

Perfect location from which to explore Kyoto. Convenient nearby transit connections. Beautiful room, comfortable beds, gorgeous private garden, wonderful shower/ofuro combination, considerate staff (thank you, Saito-san and Chandan-san, for all your assistance and kindness). Vouchers for breakfast at nearby Maeda were a great way to start our day.

I was on the first floor and the rooms are NOT well insulated. I'm a light sleeper, and I heard the people above me trouncing around until 1130 at night. If not for that, this property would get 10/10. Instead, I'd say 8.2/10 feels fair. If you're a heavy sleeper, or noise doesn't bother you, this is a great property for you.

The breakfast we paid for was not what I expected. Our first meal was a japanese breakfast bento box that was incredible! However, after that we had vouchers for a cafe nearby called Maeda Coffee. The food there was good, but, it was very "western" in what they offered which was a slight disappointment. I would have preferred to have the bento box every morning or to instead go searching for more traditional breakfast

Great, quiet location just off of Marayuma park. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were great and exceeded our expectations. The cost was great as well - I can't recommend this place enough. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Kyoto.

Perfect location, in the middle of the old town of Gion, a well-designed and quiet hotel with a staff that takes care of everything, especially a big thank you to KATO who helped us a lot. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience traditional Kyoto.

Breakfast should be improved, no problem in having it in a cafe' 5 minutes walking distance, but quality / quantity of food is below expectation.

Nice traditional structure in the temple area of Kyoto, but within a walking distance from shopping / restaurant area. Rooms are big and very quite, service is very good and staff friendly and supportive.

Beautiful little ryokan with decent sized rooms in a great location. Everything was clean and well cared for. Super helpful and friendly owners. Highly recommended for a Gion stay.
