Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Japan(A very, very minor thing...) There was coffee/tea available in the room, but no milk or sugar - would be a nice touch to have these as well! There are a lot of shops/restaurants within walking distance, but for other attractions you may benefit from having a car.
We were in need of accommodation in the area and booked Bself last-minute. It turned out to be a great experience! We stayed in the Garden View villa - the rooms were spacious and very clean. The furnishings were simple, but very comfortable, and the amenities were nice too (yukata, toiletries, coffee/tea, mini fridge, etc.). The star of the room was the private, open-air bath, of course! The staff were very helpful - they gave us a lot of great information about the area and made recommendations for activities and meals. The breakfast was simple (think cereal, sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs...) but very filling and wrapped so you had the option to take it to go if you wanted. Would happily stay here again for longer than one night!

UkraineYou can’t roll your luggage to every cottage because they have small stones, so you have to carry them. But even that didn’t spoil my impression of the cottage.
Amazing place to stay for travelers who tired of noisy cities and want to stay in peaceful place. The main house ( lobby) has a piano and you can play there how long you want. Cottage has two floors, four rooms each floor. All rooms has wooden walls and all necessary equipment and facilities to stay long time.

United StatesFirst , upon checking in, my husband noticed a big black spider on the wall. Luckily, he was able to smack it to its death. Then on our last night, he killed another one again too. I also saw lots of spider webs in the dining area, kitchen, upstairs bathroom, kitchen area, and the bedroom area upstairs. That probably explains the two big black spiders that my husband killed. Second, I didn’t really appreciate how trash wasn’t taken out everyday. For a family of four having checked in on 6/30 and checked out on 7/3, not once was our trash emptied. By the time we checked out, the trash can was overflowing! I do I appreciate their environmental efforts, but emptying trash cans for guests should be done on a daily basis, especially for families in a villa. Another thing that would have been helpful, since daily cleaning was not in placed, is to have a broom and a dustpan provided for each villa. I would have liked to have our villa swept everyday, especially when you’re dealing with hair. I could have easily done that!
The affordability and the location, as well as the size of the villa was on point! I also liked the whole aesthetic appeal of the property. The private onsen was a great bonus, especially after hiking Mt. Fuji! 🥰

FinlandReally big spiders inside the cottage. Onsen was little bit small. Hard to reach without taxi or own car
Almost like finnish summer cottage, felt like home. It is a bit outside of anything, 30 minute walk from mt fuji station. No buses go nearby so a taxi is recommended unless arriving with your own car. Private onsen is very small, suitable for 1 adult, 2 if squished. Good for two kids. There were two really big huntsman spiders inside the cottage and those were nasty even though they are not poisonous. Complimentary breakfast was good but only 30 minute slot to eat.

United KingdomThe bathroom is on the small side. If you've stayed in an APA or similar business hotel then it's the same kind of moulded bathroom setup that those hotels have. This is fine for a night or two (and having access to the onsen for a more relaxing recovery time post-hiking does alleviate this issue a little), but I wouldn't be a fan of using such a small bathroom for longer visits.
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise during our trip to Japan. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast (included with the room) was a good way to start the day and the onsen was a welcome way to end the day. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants close by on the main street and there are also general shops for supplies very close (Don Quixote and a couple of convenience stores). The train links are a little further afield, but it's easy enough to just walk through Fuji Q (there is a free entrance ticket for just walking through) and use the train station attached to the theme park. Bus stations and taxis are also fairly reliable transport options. At the time of year we stayed (May), the area itself was pretty quiet - especially compared with some of the crowded areas nearer Kawaguchiko. As such, there wasn't really any noise from other guests - but the walls are fairly thin so this may change during busier seasons. The laundry equipment was easy to operate and reasonably priced, which allowed us to travel light for an extended trip to Japan.

Australiathe roads outside made it hard to drag luggage as it were stones and it’s a little bit out of the way if you are planning on exploring fujikawaguchiko. just to visit Fuji Q is awesome as it’s very close. the room was also a bit cold as it’s made out of wood, but they did provide electric blankets and heaters which was nice. the noise travels a bit though and you could hear people walking if you stayed on the lower floor rooms .
it was homey and liked the fact it had its own onsen
