Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsWe didnt like that our room was overbooked the first night. We didnt like the surroundings it is a scum we are still wondered why we are have been robbed or worst, with a unpaived road with holes like the Grand cayon. There is at night lot of noise coming from. The staff was unfriendly and I think also uneducated it took alot of effort to get something from them. We did get only one drink and one soap despite we were with two. The breakfast was poor with only coffee / tea. We though we would had a privit sitting place outside at our room, but was a comment garden. I have to mention the very bad wifi that only was good at some moments mostly in the garden and early in the evening. The tv quality was in the first two rooms very bad.
There was a very friendly old guard in the evening and a pregnant maid but otherwise the staff wasnt so fiendly. The price of the reservation was cheap but unfortunely you get real value for that price. We move 3 times of room, the third room was nice to compair the first two rooms, it was not so much of insects. And the matras was fine, instead of the second despite that the bed was small. The bed in the first was a real luxe bed very weith with a matras to drown in it so tick and comfort The first room was socalled luxe room but ants run through and full of mosquitos so also the second room. The sittinggarden is beautifaul, we highly recommented for a rest and meetings. Your drinks and food are brough to you but the menucart is just one page and the prices are the same as the resort with swimmingpool at walkingdistance. There stands a bbq if you like it. It is decorated with nice plants but walls are old iron plates like where the houses build off in the surroundings. Unfortunely the platform of the small tables is small so you have to watch out not to fall. In the evening you are eaten alive by mosquitos. The breakfast is earlier around 7 am we let it brough into our room and did go sleep further. The breakfast is rather poor but it look that the cook made a effort to varity, but often we wonder what we had to do with it. Last breakfast we had to spilt one sausage. The only time we did go out before 7 am they made the effort to give us a breakfast package but the cock was not on time. Futhermore we like that there was on walkingdistance Dungo lakeside resort with swimming pool, the entry fee of the swimmingpool is for non-residents 300 Kenian Shillings. The menucart ( drinks /food) is normal with the same prices as Beach View hotel. The people on the way leave you alone except the motor bikes asking if you needed a ride. Furthermore we liked that is in the neighbourhood of main attracties of Kisumu but look out for the prices of the taxi's.

KenyaThe location may be a challenge to those who do not have private transport. You have to rely on Bolt Taxi services, which have to come all the way from the Central Business District (CBD) which takes at least 10 minutes to arrive, so call the Taxi early enough to avoid disappointment. There is no Uber Taxi service in Kisumu City.
Beach View Hotel has the best Kenyan breakfast on offer around the Lake region. For those intent on visiting the beaches along the shores of Lake Victoria, this is the place to be. You will easily locate the famous Hippo Point from here as well as visit the Dunga Beach for fresh fish, from the lake directly to the plate. They serve good dinner as well. The staff are also very hospitable. Wow, there was nothing as enjoyable as having your breakfast in the well kept Botanical Gardens.

PhilippinesBeing the beach view hotel, we expected it near the beach, yet it was about a 15 minute walk to the beach. As for the beach itself, it was absolutely not for swimming or even sightseeing. The "beach" was a fishing village.
Not much. It was small and pretty awful.

United KingdomThere were lots of Mosquito’s, but this is expected given its very warm in Kisumu and you’re next to the 2nd largest fresh water lake in the world. I’d recommend installing mosquito blockers on the windows, and to travellers, bring lots of repellent & ensure your mosquito net is well placed.
we had an enjoyable stay at the Beach View Hotel. It is extremely good value for money, the staff were friendly, helpful & accommodating and the breakfast was filling and quite nice. We read some fairly negative reviews, but thankfully we didn’t experience any issues like the one’s described. Of course, the accommodation isn’t 5 star luxury but it’s significantly nicer than expected given the price we paid.
