Everything was a bit slow. It took a long time to get checked in and to get food and drinks at the various restaurants, though it was mostly empty while I was there. The women working in the steam room/ sauna was awkward and made me feel uncomfortable. I had a room on the second floor, and had to pass by the laundry room to and from my room, which was odd as they always had the door open and would stare at me whenever i passed.

The staff were all very friendly and lovely. The amenities were great - I enjoyed the steam room! Breakfast was good and other meals were fine. They make a great dawa tea! They let me have a late check out for free, which I really appreciated.

It was always difficult to get towels by the pool from the staff even though the pool was quiet.

The standout here were the staff. They could not have been better (except for the team at the pool/fitness centre who were not very good/helpful). We were lucky enough to stay in a club room with access to the club lounge where we were looked after by Maxwell and Collins in particular. They were so kind and helpful giving us lots of information about Nairobi and tips for what to see and do in the city. The staff in the Thorn Tree restaurant for breakfast and dinner, in the Thai restaurant for dinner and the Exchange bar for drinks were also fantastic. Even the concierge team and the security people were always happy and smiling and polite. The hotel is a tourist attraction in itself with lots of interesting history while the rooms are very comfortable. We would highly recommend as it’s also very central so you get a much better feel for the city than staying in the suburbs where many hotels now are.

The food at breakfast was not good. They serve some very strange food and it is not what I would call a Continental breakfast.

This is a lovely hotel. The staff are very friendly, always greet with a smile , and are welcoming. The pool is brilliant - perfect place to laze around and, well, have a beer or two. The shift down to the bar on the first level is seamless, with a shimmy into the Thai restaurant just there - well planned, and the food is glorious. I can't recall a hotel which envelops me so perfectly with a laid back, gentle, relaxing place.

Little bit dated. At busy road junction, not great to walk around the area on your own. Little bit expensive compared to other options further outside the city centre.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly, always willing to help out. The hotel security feels very safe and security will escort to nea by ATMs and grocery shop if required. Help with taxis and parking is appreciated. Help from reception on booking tours and activities but you should haggle on prices. The food options are great was 24/7 restaurant and great breakfast. Heated pool and big gym area.

The central business district is nothing like the name might suggested. It’s a run down and potentially dangerous part of town where you won’t find foreign business people or tourists. So if you are white you will feel very uneasy with the amount of attention you get near to the hotel.

The hotel itself is great Lots of history to the building and a good standard of luxury. The facilities are very good and the staff are fantastically helpful and very professional.
