Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

CambodiaMy stay was marred by a disappointing interaction with the front office staff. Unfortunately, their behavior seemed overly Western-oriented and rude towards me as a local customer. As someone studying hospitality, I find this unacceptable. I hope the management addresses these issues to ensure a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. The staff also didn't provide information about any additional fee and blamed me that i didn't ask for it. Plus, the room has no TV remote and the toothbrush.
My hostel stay has been great. The peaceful atmosphere is relaxing, and being near Pub Street adds a lively touch to the experience.

United StatesI believe I experienced "reversed discrimination", I am an Asian. I noticed the staff were very nice to caucasian guests, but very cold to me, the way they talked to me was "I am the boss!", except the young lady Jerry, she is nice to everyone. I checked on reviews from their previous guests, most 1.0 stars were given by Asian guests. Occasionally European guests gave 1.0 stars, the hostel apologized in their response. But to 1.0 stars from Asian guests, they blamed the guests in their responses. Also, something very strange happened to me, this hostel lied to booking.com! I certainly checked in on both Dec 14th and 15th, but I received strange emails. --- On Dec 15th I received an email from booking.com: "Dear ..., How’s it going? Siem Reap Pub Hostel (booking number 4060137397) notified us that you didn’t check-in on 2023-12-14." --- On Dec 16th, I received another email from booking.com: "Dear ..., How’s it going? Siem Reap Pub Hostel (booking number 4019870816) notified us that you didn’t check-in on 2023-12-15." Why did this hostel keep reporting I didn't check in? A lady from France who stayed in the same room during these two nights is willing to testify that I stayed in this hostel on both nights. It turned out, by claiming it was a no-show, my reservation got a status as "cancelled" so I lost my right to review this hostel. I had to call booking.com to give me back my chance to post my review.
Nothing.

United StatesI noticed the room is crowded with beds and luggages. There is a cabinet right next to my bed, it was open and empty, so I put my luggage in it to make the room look better. Huge mistake! A staff member (maybe her name Die?) yelled at me repeatedly even after I agreed to leave my luggage outside of the cabinet. She just kept yelling at me. Finally I asked her to please speak peacefully, but she continued yelling until another staff member needed her attention. If there is an issue with a guest, they can peacefully talk to the guest. Yelling/abusing guest is not acceptable. It is really not a big deal for me to leave my luggage inside or outside of a cabinet. Why did the hostel make it such a huge issue, like they caught a criminal? I could not stand staying at this hostel any more, so I cancelled the rest of my booking and moved into a much better place. (I had 3 reservations, I stayed the first two, cancelled the last one, but they lied that I was no-show for the first two so to attempt blocking me from posting reviews. See details in my another review.) Another thing I don't like about this hostel is, there are several threatening signs on the walls. For example, one sign says that if you bring food or drink from outside you will be fined $10. Another sign says, if you enter the swimming pool after 10pm, you will be fined $50. Those rules do not affect me, just sound threatening to guests. By the way, all the other Cambodian people I met are very nice. Angkor Wat is beautiful. I will be back, just won't stay at this hostel again.
Nothing

FranceDON’T BOOK THE TOURS !!! It is a touristy trap !! We usually don’t like group tours but for once we tried as they advertise it very well and the price was interesting. But RUN AWAY !! You are in a rush all day, have ZERO time to explore the temples, enjoy the place and the moment, taking pictures… and get to know nothing more than you can find on internet.. of course Angkor complex is amazing and it was beautiful but we were so disappointed at the end of the day. It costs the same price for 3 people to share a tuktuk all day and get to be free and make your own schedule !! Same bad experience with the floating village, we came back very upset and this is sad when you are backpacking on a budget, being careful with your money, and like authentic experiences. Clean staff moving the very HEAVY furnitures at 8am waking up all rooms at all floors… those big wooden bed cannot even hold dust under, so didn’t get the point in moving them around, especially at a time where people are sleeping.
Mixed feelings.. The place is very nice, the location also and the staff very kind. The pool is perfect after visiting Angkor temples

ItalyThe fan in the bathroom was broken, we asked if it was possible to fix it and they said they would send someone, but no one came. We arrived very early in the morning so the room was not ready, but there wasn't a nice common space to relax while waiting. We sat in the bar to plan the day, but we didn't feel very welcome, problably because we didn't order anything and the kitchen staff kept on coming to ask. Since there are night buses to Siem Reap and some people arrive early in the morning, it would be nice to have a cozy place to rest and recover while the room is being prepared. Although - in comparison to other agencies - they have good deals for tours (Angkor tours, floating village, etc), they don't have competitive prices for the rest (laundry, motorbike and bike rentals). We found an amazing laundry place right next to the hostel for literally half their price (0.75 vs 1.50 USD/kg) and half priced bikes on the main street at the end of the lane (2-3 vs 5 USD/day). There's no common kitchen or anything to allow you to be independent even for small things (making yourself a cup of tea, cut some fruit), which in the overpriced Siem Reap would be appreciated if you are a low-budget traveler.
The hostel is in a very central position, very convenient to reach all tourist attractions. The triple room was clean and spacious. The staff was always available and helpful, they are very young and fun. Last but not least, they probably have among the best deals for tours! Overall, good quality price ratio.

MexicoI booked and paid for 12 nights and checked out on the fifth day. The beds have no curtains, in a 12 bed room they only leave two toilet rolls per day, the guy from reception randomly shows in the room without notice to turn the AC on while the girls are walking around naked. I misplaced a case with my glasses inside and they said they checked the cameras and couldn’t find anything. The food was expensive and very small portions and you would even be “fined” if you brought food from outside. No one said the doors would be locked at night and when I showed up at 2am, I had to wait for a guy to wake up and open the door. Is a no kids hostel but the owners kids kept jumping into the pool every day, splashing water all over. And the cherry on the cake: I woke up to find a guy standing without a shirt right in front of my bed, while I’m laying half-naked (along with other girl in the room). I was confused bc I know I requested to change to only female dorm since before arriving, but there is this guy that came in the middle of the night with other three girls (drunk and being extremely loud and disrespectful). When checking out I asked the girl why would they allow a guy in an all female room, her answer: he is gay! I rather let them keep the money for the remainder of my stay, than stay here another day. Wouldn’t recommend at all. I went to stay at Onederz Hostel for double the price but it was definitely worth it there.

United KingdomHOWEVER, the experience and lack of professionalism I experienced in this place has been the WORST I have experienced so far in my south east Asia trip. I would not normally be one to leave reviews but the treatment I received by, whom I believe to be the manger, her name being Dee, needed to be highlighted. I would like to put this down to a ‘language barrier’ but unfortunately I think it was very rude and certainty unacceptable as her role as a host. Suggesting I ‘don’t look English’ after handing over my British passport, which was then followed by ‘ I was scared you look Israeli’ is unacceptable and totally beyond her role. I will never return or recommend to anyone. Moreover, her constant attempt to pronounce my name wrong was also a very odd way to approach a paying customer… I would like to note, all the other staff were pleasant and welcoming but this experience has unfortunately tarnished my view of the hostel.
The room was fine, it was clean and cheap, good location.

United KingdomWe had ants from the bin in our room, once we informed the staff they came with ant killer. They are common throughout SE Asia.
Very good location, not disturbed by any music from the bars but close enough to the centre to walk in. Swimming pool and pool table provided a place to chill out after exploring Angkor wat.

United StatesThe bed in room 237 was horrible! It was not only hard, but there are indentations on the bed so no matter how you lay, you end up back in the person's body layout. We wonder how old this bed is because it was not comfortable at all and would take many years for those dips to form. TV is there but doesn't work.
Property location was good. The pool was a very nice perk which made it wonderful to be able to cool off when it got too hot during the day. The off-season price was cheap and location was nice and near restaurants, Pub St, etc. We arrived at 5:15am, they were accommodating and let us come early and nap at the pool and let us keep our luggage in storage after we checked out till our 11pm bus departure. Staff is friendly, the young guys who work there were really nice and personable. They work and sleep outside right by the check in counter, they work so hard for such little pay, so if you appreciate them, please leave them a tip! They also offer tours and the prices seem same/better compared to others in the city.

LibyaI stayed here for two days in the female dorm with one other female guest. The other female guest stayed for 5 days alone in this room.I decided to extend for one more day.Everything was fine until the hostel manager decided without any prior warnings to close the room and move us into another room. We had to wait until 2pm to check in into our new room and I was refused to see the new room. The hostel manager said that the other girl would move out and I couldn't stay alone in the empty female room but it was ok that the other guest stayed 5 days alone in the female dorm. And that the guest would move out was a lie becauae I met her at the pool. When I told the manager that I will review that ,he threatened to cancel the whole reservation, which was already confirmed on booking. However, after I checked in in the late afternoon,I was moved suddely to a mix dorm and not the female dorm I had booked online. After I complained,I was kicked out of the hostel. At no time did anyone mention that I will move to a mix dorm. I had to go to the hotel next door and change my wet clothes from swimming in the pool when I was waiting to check in. Siem Reap is nothing than a witch hunt for foreigners to get their money and nothing else. They don't see the people as humans but as walking dollar notes. No matter if in the hostel or when you step a foot out of the hostel everyone asks you for money. The hostel want you to eat in their expensive restaurant and book their crazy overpriced tours if not you are being terrorized. You step a foot out of the hostel and the tuk tuk drivers are all over you everytime you pass them by. You cannot walk for 2 minutes in Siem Reap without being asked for money. And walk out of the tourist places across the river and you will see how luxury those tuk tuk drivers live in their big wooden villas with a truck and tuk tuk parked in the garage. And Siem Reap is not cheap.
The friendly staff under the racist Hostel owner and manager,Dara put a lot of effort to make the customer feel welcomed. But all afforts of the staff were ruined by the racist manager who terrorizes his foreign customers.
