Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

CanadaPerfect location right on the beach. Dorms are actually single rooms. It really is a perfect paradise.

BoliviaShared bathrooms/toilets would need a refresh and possibly an upgrade.
The spot is amazing, perfect beach with crystal blue water and a corals reef with so many fish just snorkeling. The tipis are spacious and well maintained, just be mindful that they have no electricity so you may have to charge your devices when at the restaurant (not a big issue).

ItalyI didn't enjoy the food and there are not many options (especially vegan). There are other 3 places on the beach though. Plus, it seemed like the place attracted many French speakers, so if you don't speak French you feel a bit left out.
The place is just amazing! You are in front of the beach and you can leave your belongings everywhere because there are not many people. I booked the dorm room but I was alone the whole time (there are max 2 beds in each room).

FranceThe hosts are really nice, caring and accommodating. I booked a dorm but it's almost a private room as it's a 2 person dorm and they rent it for one person only. Amazing stay

South AfricaGorgeous spot on an isolated beach to unwind for a few days. We didn't pick the best weather to arrive in but I can imagine on sunny calm days this spot is literally heaven! Good food and comfy hammocks, definitely worth the 30 minute walk from Saracen Bay. And 10/10 for the innovative WiFi solution involving a router hoisted into a tree in a bucket :)

CanadaI personally loved this, but in case you don't know, it is a bit of a walk on a jungle trail from Saracen Bay to Sleeping Trees. Count at least 30 minutes walk. You also have the option to reach Sunset Beach by boat, if you don't want to walk :) Sunset Beach was not clean, while I was there. I spent more than an hour picking up garbage that washed up on the beach, because otherwise I just couldn't enjoy walking from end to end, there was simply too much trash.
Heaven on earth! The few days that I spent there were amongst the best of my 6-month trip. I watched some beautiful sunsets there, night after night. The location is fantastic! It is kind of remote, which means that guests can enjoy peace and tranquility all day. I loved chilling in the hammocks for hours, under the shade of a palm tree. My stay at Sleeping Trees was so relaxing, it is exactly what I was looking for. I slept very well in both a dorm (with moskito net) and a tent facing the ocean. I would go back any time, I highly recommend this place. Couples looking for a romantic place away from the crowds will love this place. Snorkelling equipment was available for free. Food options at Sleeping Trees were good too (Loved pizza night!). During my stay, there weren't really other food options on Sunset beach, so I ate every meal at the Sleeping Trees and it was good :)

PolandIt is quite far from the boat dock from Shihanoukville and the last half mile of the journey, especially with luggage, is a difficult path through the jungle.
Friendly and helpful staff, great location on a quiet beach, clean. The only facility on Sunset Beach where wi-fi is available in the public area.

United KingdomWith electricity being a premium on the island there were no fans or AC so the rooms were very hot at night and my bed was lumpy from the uneven bed slats
The location is perfect, amongst the trees and on the beach. The staff were great and helpful if anything was needed and the food was also great here too. Best beach on the island. The bar and chillout areas are what makes this place.

United KingdomI'm 6'2 and too tall for my bunk-bed bed. And no AC in the rooms, made some nights difficult.
Beautiful set up. Sunset beach is lovely and quiet and the hostel space is amazing - hammocks, swings, seating areas aplenty.

SpainI am pretty good swimmer myself, and the sea obviously looked a little bit rough, but a quick advice on the beach currents wouldn't have been out of place :)
Right between the jungle and a beautiful secluded beach. It was extremely comfortable and clean (is really hard to keep anything on a tropical beach clean) and food was delicious.

United KingdomIf you’re expecting Wi-Fi and A/C this isn’t the spot for you. In my opinion it was part of the charm. The dorms are 3 x rooms of 1 bunk beds with a mosquito net but otherwise very simple, so manage expectations there.
Clean, well looked after tents, bungalows and dorms. Delicious food. On a beach that is like actual paradise, with hammocks to choose from, books and a pool table at your disposal. Well worth the hike over to Sunset Beach.

United KingdomBathrooms can and will get a bit grubby as people walk sand in.
Had the most amazing 6 days/nights at Sleeping Trees. The tents are metres from the beach so you can wake to serene sounds of the waves. The water is crystal clear and the snorkelling (masks provided) is fantastic although there is a bit of plastic, however that is now unfortunately the norm. The beach bar is nice and the food portions are very generous and tasty. Pool and ping pong table are free to use as are the countless hammocks to have a nap in. We were able to properly unwind and chill here.

GermanyThe bed could be a bit more comfortable although that could be said for 99.9% of the beds in south east Asia.
The location is just like something from a book. Perfect. The food is very tasty, alternating between bbq and wood fired pizzas. The crepes are also very tasty. The beach is stunning and well looked after by each resort along the beach, not like the Saracen Bay side. Go while you still can before the Cambodian government decides to let the whole island be destroyed.

NepalI wish they had more food options.
What a paradise after a 45 min hike. We had the ocean-view tent which was literally a few steps from the beach. Felt so peaceful to sleep with the sound of the waves. The hosts are super approachable. They have limited food menus but HANDS DOWN, they are the best amongst their neighbours. Woodfire pizza here is by far the best we had in Cambodia. And yes, the sunset view feels like a paradise.

NetherlandsThe dorm got a little hot at night, a fan would have been nice, but power is obviously expensive at this remote location. Not very social, but that fits into the quiet feel, and social activities can be found at the adventure centre further down the beach.
Very quiet place, well organised and clean. The staff try to stay out of your way but be helpful wherever they can, to give you a very relaxed stay. This was a great place to calm down after weeks of hectic traveling. The location is very remote, making this place have a truly idyllic island feel. Note that this will change soon as a road is being built within a couple months.

NetherlandsThe wifi is slow, and there is no reception (for Metfone at least). However, you can consider this to be a good thing too. My mattress was a bit uncomfortable (dorm bed), but for a few days it was okay.
The location is beautiful. Sunset beach is really the place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy a calm beach life. It is quite a hike to get there with your bags, but it is really worth it. Way nicer than what I saw on Saracen Beach. For the food: the crepes are amazing. Also the pizzas are pretty good. They don't have a lot of choice for dinner, but there are enough other food places on Sunset beach. Also, this place has the best pool table I saw in 3 months of traveling :)
