Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FinlandIt was great, the staff is amazing, it's a great value for money place, breakfast is included and we love that, laundry price is not per kilo but per machine which is great. The only thing that bothered me is that they have Chinese sockets in the rooms and you need an adapter which I didn't have because in Lao, we usually don't need adapters with European plugs. They have Lao sockets in the common areas though, so it's fine. Other than that, everything was perfect.

United KingdomIt was a bit far out from the main centre, bus station and other bars or even shops but for one night this wasn't a problem and Vientiane is so small that nothing is too far away. The fridge they keep the beer in needs to be colder!!!
The breakfast was basic but as a budget hostel that was ok. There was a kettle to use and they sold beer. Rooms had enough storage space under the bed and were a good temperature. Staff helped me with a taxi using her own phone app which was nice of her.

New ZealandIt’s a minor thing as really enjoyed the property, but we did have to pay to use a locker - the first time this has happened in four months of travelling south east Asia, as usually lockers are included. But it was a small sum and overall good value so a minor thing to note!
Venn Hostel was fantastic. The rooms were clean, mattresses comfy and able to be changed with the staff, roomy with lights and cubbies, and with quality linen, including a lovely duvet. The rooms were kept cool and blacked out for a restful sleep, and had good privacy curtains. The hostel offered free breakfast making it a great value stay. The location is right by the Mekong and only 5-10 min walk to the night market or food restaurants. The showers were hot and you can also pay by card as well as cash. We had unruly guests in our dorm one night, I messaged the staff and they sorted them out so promptly and efficiently. The staff were friendly and so helpful, and clearly work hard at the hotel to make it a nice environment.

HungaryOnly concrete, no green outside. Cost nothing to put some plants. 1 piece of banana limit for breakfast is petty. Also 2 toilets were out of work. Maybe fix them.

SwitzerlandI had a great stay at Venn Hostel in Vientiane! The place has a modern yet laid-back vibe, making it a comfortable spot to relax after exploring the city. The dorms are clean and spacious, with privacy curtains and individual lights for each bed. Lockers are available if needed, and everything is well-maintained. The common area is a really chill space—perfect for unwinding or meeting other travelers. The staff are super friendly and always happy to help with recommendations or travel plans. Plus, the location is ideal, close to great cafes, restaurants, and key sights while still being peaceful. Overall, it’s a great place to stay in Vientiane, and I’d definitely come back!
