Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe hard bed and lack of pillows - it’s very accurate to the pictures so weren’t surprised or disappointed but extra bedding could go a long way and make the stay extra special - the 30s can’t handle it!
The vibes were immaculate - very cool and chill and atmospheric and lively. The food was also fantastic and way above average - it was one of our fave things. The breakfast which is included is a surprise everyday which we loved. The cocktails were delicious and the wine a much better price than elsewhere. The location was right in the midst of everything so also added to the vibes but meant to you could explore easily. Sunset on the sand was also incredible and one of the highlights of our stay. The bar team also deserve a shout out for the giggly and positive energy! would 100% recommend and return despite the hard bed and lack of pillows 🤪

PolandWe spent five wonderful days in this amazing place. The rooms were very nice, with a beautiful sea view. The breakfasts were delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The surf school was excellent, with a fantastic instructor. There was no problem with having a later breakfast due to surfing lessons. Additionally, there were options to book extra trips or take a tuk-tuk ride. We would love to come back again!

CanadaI really dislike wet bathrooms despite it being common in Asia. Many of the lodges we were at actually included a squeegee mop in the bathrooms that we could use after a shower to help dry the floors. My husband wanted another pillow to brace his bony knees on. I knew this hotel was in a busier part of town. I appreciated the host contacting me in advance about this to ensure I knew there would be live music several nights a week
We had a sea facing room and loved the size of the room and the balcony. There are chairs to sit and enjoy the view. The staff were really really helpful and friendly. My husband took a surf lesson with Hamid, which he really enjoyed. Watching the surfers daily was a nice highlight and enjoying the good drinks and food We really appreciate the move away from the single use toiletries, plastic straws and bottled water (using a dispenser instead). We also loved the beach dogs including the 3 legged blackie we called Hopper

SloveniaEverything was good. No complaints.
Great homestay at the best part of the beach. Modern, clean rooms, great views, chill vibe, delicious breakfast and a nice restaurant right in front of the waves. And they rent good surfboards as well!

United KingdomThe room itself needs some love. Nowhere to hang your clothes inside the room, and the bed mattress springs did not make for a comfy night sleep.
Loved the beachfront location, the staff were chilled and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic with a different dish each day and the food was incredible overall. Also a super boutique in the front to shop local products.

United KingdomNothing major, perhaps some small maintenance to tighten bathroom sink tap and one light switch came out of the wall. Also, a small plastic window cleaner would help to brush the shower water off the floor after showering (shower area is in a wet room style).
As soon as I walked into Amaroo I was blown away by the location. The bedroom and bathroom was large, bright, nicely decorated... open view from the balcony towards the sea. Friendly smiley staff, the owner Mel responding fast with her assistance helping us to book extra night and organise airport taxi. The restaurant & bar was fab serving delicious food, best tuna bowl salad ever! Plenty of loungers available under the palm canopy as well as on the open sun. Lovely place to relax into, during the day and evening. Will be back! Thank you! 🙏

United KingdomI liked the rooms and the outdoor bathroom, if I had to give any feedback on this aspect, the room may use a couple of hooks to hang bits inside and maybe a mirror.
This has been the best hotel I have stayed in while in Sri Lanka. I lucked out by booking here, and had a garden room, which consists of a large spacious room, styled well, and an outdoor attached private bathroom. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left the staff could not have done any more for me, from a welcome cup of tea first thing in the morning, to giving local recommendations and tips throughout and arranging the airport transfer too. I ate food in the restaurant on the first evening and it was simply stunning. The breakfast is complimentary with the stay and varied each day, it was the best I had for three weeks in Sri Lanka. I would recommend this place to anyone travelling in this area.

United KingdomThe room was spacious with lovely views but could do with a bit of fixing up and cleaning, although nothing major. Other than that there was nothing we didn't like.
Amazing location with outstanding beach bar/restaurant below (food was so delicious). The sea view was beautiful and there is lots to do in a very short walk away. It was a lovely hotel to spend the final two days of a three week trip travelling Sri Lanka.

United KingdomNothing at all
We spent 4 nights here relaxing at the end of a holiday and it was the perfect place to do so. Location is amazing right on the beachfront with a wonderful sunset view and the sound of waves even from the side room. The room itself was gorgeous, with a huge comfy bed and amazing bathroom, watching the sunset while showering was a treat! The beach is stunning, clean and quiet but with plenty of bars and restaurants around, and surfing available if you are so inclined. Food was good and the daily breakfast plentiful. The vibe here is outstanding and the staff are excellent.. special shout to Harsh who made our stay even more special. We loved every minute here.. highly recommend

United KingdomI absolutely loved my stay at Amaroo, everything was very straight forward from the initial booking to arrival - communications were clear and helpful. This was my second stay at the hotel during a 2 week period as I had visited Galle for a few days. I loved the room which appeared to be recently refurbished and it had a nice outdoor/indoor shower. It was quiet which I appreciated. The location was perfect, with plenty to do nearby. The hotel food was exceptional and the staff were very attentative. Overall, my stay was perfect and I cannot recommend the hotel, owners and staff highly enough.

United KingdomThe room was good but I think we could have chosen better (if other rooms had been available). The aircon was pretty loud but manageable. The thing actually keeping us awake was however drilling in the main area (putting up pictures) very late at night. We asked for this to stop and reassured it would, only for it to begin again five minutes later - not a universal experience but something to note.
Amaroo was by far the best spot to be on the beach strip! Gorgeous outdoor area, amazing food (so much variety at breakfast + incredibly fresh ingredients) and delightful staff.
