Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Friendly family. Good location, near the bus station and not far from center. It can be noisy with the traffic in main street,I always have the ear plugs with me when travelling so it was not a problem

The apartment was oriented to the busy street. Expect noise and exhalation, but I slept like a baby till morning anyways.

No hot water, noise from outside street but location was the requirement.
Location, nice roof top to sit before peak heat.

There is not A.C. but the fan works very well.
It is like a guest house, and the owner is so sweet and always there if you need anything. The place is very large and well furnished : hot water, fan, mosquitoes net and a nice terrace. We have the feeling to be in our own house. Highly raccomend even if Is not in the place of the main attractions but is 15 minutes walking from the train station, good for Backpackers.

The road was very noisy even at night. There was a small hole in the roof so a little bit of rain got into our room.

There was a interent limit, and not downloading policy. Normally I need wi-fi to download some things I need, so this is one thing I didn't like.
Welcoming owner, very big room, next to train station.

Great location, close to the bus and train station. The room is huge and everything was perfectly clean. They provide cutlery and hot water so you can prepare your breakfast and dinner. There’s also a table with seats and a beautiful balcony

No option for breakfast or even a kettle to make tea/coffee in the morning but good food options nearby.
Do not expect much for this low budget price, clean and comfy enough. Private bathroom with hot water. Close to the city centre. Cute rooftop.

Location is great near the central train and bus stations. The room and bathroom is clean. We stayed for one night of the above photo with only one double bed .very quiet and nice to sleep.. Kettle provided. But the next 5 nights, we moved next door with 2 double beds with a terrace.

Everything is OK
I'm running out of rupees and the owner allowed me to transfer to his account via WISE transfer which I saved a lot compared of withdrawing from ATM with low exchange rate and bank fees. Kettle provided The bedroom had 2 double beds and clean bathroom with a terrace .a nice spot for watching the last festival day of Perahera parades in front of the motel.they arrived at 5:45 AM and back at 9 AM. The owner is very nice and helpful. He's busy at times in his shop in the first floor but he's willing to help when you ask him. Location is perfect. Near the Cenral train and bus stations .Also when visiting Ambuluwawa tower. There are good restaurants nearby that is very cheap.if you needs tropical fruits just near the bus stations. (Warning for CENTRAL CITY HOSTEL who canceled my booking 2 days upon my arrival to Kandy to watch the festival. He's reason is there's no foreigners or white people going to his hostel only local people. .When I told him its OK as I'm an Asian by blood.He change his words by saying. That there's no water in Kandy.the hostel is not functioning foe a month. He just don't admit that he canceled my booking to gave to someone else to increase the rate. I'm sorry that I included this to my comments as I can't make any comments to CENTRAL CITY HOSTEL as he already canceled my booking and even though I made a complaint to booking.com .they did not do anything at all .Today September 1st and the Festival is already finished yesterday.as of now CENTRAL CITY HOSTEL is available which he mentioned to me that the hostel is closed for a Month. )
