The owners were the most friendly and helpful people you could imagine. The location is stunning, to be able to sit in bed and watch the waterfall in the distance with peacocks and other beautiful birds flying in the countryside is magical. The flowers growing along the balconies are beautiful and attract very pretty birds.

The only downside was that the double room on the first floor was quite damp and so could be a problem for some travellers. Being up in the mountains, Ella can be quite wet so it's to be expected.

Jack and his wife and the location of Cascade Valley made this one of the most magical places we stayed in Sri Lanka. The property is located a bit out of town (15/20 mins walk along the train track or 10 min tuk tuk) but this was one of the main draws for us as Ella town itself is busy, loud and polluted. The accommodation is set within a valley of rice paddies and all rooms face the phenomenal view of the nearby waterfall. You can hear peacocks calling across the valley and spot sunbirds feeding from the flowers on the balcony. Jack and his wife went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible, providing breakfasts on their beautiful terrace and arranging tuk tuks when we needed a lift. It's perfectly located to pick up the walk to Ella rock along the train tracks.

Open window in bathroom (no screen) which let a lot of bugs in, but we just kept the bathroom closed to alleviate bugs in the room (especially mosquitoes, although not as many as along the coast in the south).

Owner picked us up by Tuk Tuk on Main Street instead of us having to walk the difficult (hilly) street to the guesthouse. Then he let us know hot to get to town by a short 5 minute walk on Rainbow Rd. to get to the train tracks to easily walk to town. (FYI - there are so many people walking the tracks, so don’t think that it is difficult of dangerous in the least). The owner was so gracious. It was obvious he cares about his place. Although there was some construction in the front of his place (not sure for what or how long it will take), it didn’t dampen or take away from the experience. Finally, I think this is one of the best views of all the places on Rainbow Road. We had a view of the waterfall, mountains, and valley from our room and even while lying in bed. We wish we spent less time in other Sri Lankan locations so we could have stayed another night or two after we already extended our two-day stay to three, but timing was an issue, and it was a big thanks to the owner - a really good man.

We loved our stay at Cascade Vally! Our room was really comfortable and had an effective mosquito net. The breakfast was great.....filling and very tasty. It was made even better by the stunning view from the property. The host family are lovely and do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The family's dogs are so sweet and friendly! The accommodation is very accessible from town using the railway shortcut. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Ella!

A very remote place, also getting to the room was a bit tricky through the fields. Going down to the town is nice, with nice views but getting back might take a while and tuk tuks want a lot for driving you up there. No WiFi.

The view on the waterfall is very nice. Room is big and there is hot water in the shower. Good breakfast with a view on a valley.

A little far away from the centre (about a 25 minute walk) but if you hire a moped its fine and theres good parking.

The place is lovely and so is the couple who runs it! Ramani is an amazing host, she’s very caring and she prepares amazing breakfast every day. The rooms are clean and nice, the shower has super hot water running with good pressure. The views are stunning, the house is facing a beautiful waterfall and surrounded by vegetable fields in a very cute local neighborhood. We extended our stay several times. We loved it there and would totally recommend! Thanks so much! Wish you the best.

Wow! Saying just one thing is difficult. The location is just incredible, you will just listen the sound of nature. The owners of the hotel are an amazing family. They will help you in everything you may need. The food is also amazing. Here we had the best breakfast so far in our trip in Sri Lanka. I will definitely come back to this hotel one day.

The only thing I didn’t love was the noise that gets into the room. It’s usually super quiet becasue you’re surrounded by nature but in the rooms upstairs any noise or voice in the terrace feels like it’s inside your room.

The views from this place are stunning! It’s views a 5-star resort would wish for. The owners are incredibly nice and friendly and the place is really comfy.

Fantastic view from the room and from the roof top terrace on the water fall and Ella rock. Bed was super comfy and everything super clean. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and we felt very welcomed :) It's very quiet and in the evening you can hear the water fall from far. (30 min walking distance). They also got cute little fluffy puppies. We had a scooter, so it was super easy to get there. :) can't get any better for that price value.

The walk into town is a little steep but the host always makes a plan to take you in his tuk tuk or call one of needed. The walk back is lovely ☺️

Nestled in a valley below the bustling town, Jack’s place is a little scenic sanctuary. The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom had all we needed and the shared kitchen to keep our coffee, milk etc was close by. The host, Jack, and his wife were incredibly helpful and friendly; serving up the loveliest breakfasts on the balcony. Thank you Jack, we’ll be back!
