I loved the atmosphere and the vibe from this hotel. Even though it’s in a touristy area you felt connected with nature which I loved. The rooms were lovely, and the bed was super comfy! My favourite thing was sitting on the balcony in the morning with tea/coffee which is provided and watching the monkeys in the trees All the staff were amazing and made the stay great. I really hope to come back here in the future!

Sadly Unawatuna is now brash, busy and noisy. Not the hotels fault of course!

This is a fabulous atmospheric hotel set in some truly beautiful gardens. Excellent for spotting wildlife and birds ( monkeys, snakes, peacocks, kingfishers) from the balcony. Mornings were special just observing. The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfasts were great and filling.

As soon as you leave it’s bedlam! Fighting the mad traffic in the narrow lane to the beach.

A wonderful oasis of tranquility. The beautiful kingfisher who was often to be seen perched above the pond. The only place in Sri Lanka I heard good music playing! (Quiet, mellow, cool stuff). Excellent food, coffee, staff. The only place in Sri Lanka I found where the toast, bread and jam actually provided pleasure as well as calories.

Absolutely loved our stay at Dunes, it's everything we needed in Galle/Unawatuna, despite not having a pool the beach is literally down the road so you don't even need the pool. The hotel is in the middle of everything and yet it is very quiet away from the main road. I absolutely loved staying here and wished I could stay longer. We opted for breakfast in the hotel in the morning and it was so entertaining to watch monkeys play in the trees and listening to birds chirping was my favourite part of the day. The room was big and spacious also

The creeky floors when we walk on the wooden floor.

Great location. Rooms are really nice. only problem is they have a wooden floor. So when someone walks on upstairs you hear it. Love the room set up.

I really wish the property had a swimming pool and the bathrooms had a ventilation mechanism without opening the windows. I'd take 1 point off for both so Dunes is still a 9/10.

The architecture of the hotel was beautiful and helped me reconnect with nature. The rooms come with all modern amenities including a french press. The beds are super comfy and helped ensure a great night's rest for every night we were there. The staff are great too and they go above and beyond- for insurance, they removed their shoes before entering the rooms. And finally, the food, although a bit overpriced is fresh and gives you a great flavor of Sri Lanka.

Beautiful place to stay in Unawatuna, everything you need, beach towels, free water and lovely garden setting. Staff also very helpful and accommodating to leave our bags and organise a lift to the airport

Comfortable, clean hotel with great location near to the Unawatuna beach. The staff was polite and helpful. I would say it was one of the best hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka. We had a room with a king-size bed.

The walls are slightly thin, so you can hear guests in other rooms talking late at night, though the hotel provides earplugs in the room.

The facilities, rooms, and staff are top-notch and what you would expect at a high-end hotel. It is one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan egg hoppers breakfast is a must-try as well! This was the only hotel during my vacation in Sri Lanka that offered this option.

We managed to check in very early (4:30am) with someone there to help, and they even upgraded us to a bigger room! Room was really nice and staff were really accommodating. Very close to the beach too!
