There was a door to a courtyard section that only had a mesh door, not properly sealed and therefore the AC air could escape through the curtain.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving good local advice. The room was clean and spacious enough. It had a bar fridge in the room that we could utilise. The beachfront was beautiful and clean. There was free drinking water.

Online payment was not deducted when the booking was done through booking.com. Had to pay only by cash when checking out. Price was slightly higher than the online payment. Cup of normal tea costs Rs. 200/=. Soap was provided but not toothpaste or toothbrushes. No seperate parking.but the staff is very friendly and kind.rooms are clean .beach view is breathtaking.

The location is amazing... Entry from the roadside and direct connectivity to the beach on the backside... We had a very short stay here since we had travelled before reaching by evening. But it sure was a cute aesthetic and good place with a good view to chill for hours

I missed some things, which have little importance since we only stayed for two nights and could do without them. Generally, we really recommend the place!

Located next to a lovely peacful beach. You step onto it straight from the hotel! The meals with sea view were extraordinary! The people running Dyke Rest are very friendly and helpful.

A small fridge in my room would have been helpful to keep my drinks cool, especially in the hot weather.

I loved the central location in amongst the working fishing community. Great verandah view for breakfast and a beer at sunset. Clean and pleasant walking beach. My hosts were a very hospitable pairing.

Room facilities slightly run down but not bad considering the price paid.

The host and his family are super friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in earlier than expected and provided us with a lovely cup of coffee on arrival. We really got the feel of a home stay. The back of the property enters right onto the beach. The beach where the property is situated is private and private. Perfect for relaxation after busy days. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect for this length.

The facilities are quite barebone and a little out-dated (for example, a slowly leaking sink) but everything worked just fine, AC, etc. This was made up for by the hosts, food, and location, but it may be a little pricey, relatively, if you are after a beautiful room.

Dyke Rest provided us with a home away from home while completing our PADI diving training. Moses and his mum made sure our stay was comfortable with a family-style of hospitality, providing delicious breakfasts and the option of dinner, chatting with us on the terrace overlooking the beach. The resident dogs were also much appreciated for cuddles!

It was quite expensive compared to other properties. The kitchen was extremely dirty with food even in the washed cutlery section etc. Things such as light fixtures switches etc. Have corroded out and need to be replaced. Some of the floorboards have weak spots. The kettle to heat up water has no lid etc and should be replaced. Essentially the Canadian owner needs to put some money into maintaining the place. It’s known as a backpacker place based on guidebooks but I don’t think it is anymore with how much it costs and the lack of maintenance. A little TLC would go a long ways.

The location is in the beach which is relatively clean. It’s nice to watch the fishing boats early in the morning and evening. Nice sunrise, also lots of fish around the Rocky point which you can walk too. You can rent snorkeling gear from them at a reasonable price and there is no need for a tour. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff uncle and Moses were friendly and accommodating trying to make the stay good.

While it might appear a bit pricy for a room with shared bathroom, it's worth it! Best possible location, one entry to the street and the other to the beach, with shaded outside sitting area directly at the beach. Well maintained old house with lovely paintings and writings of former guests on the walls. Very friendly and helpful staff, appreciated very much to get free tea at all times during the day.

The beach is dirty and full of trash. But that is not the fault of the staff. It is a general problem in this area, including Uppuveli and Nilaveli beach.

Best location in Trinco, with the backdoor onto the beach. Enjoy the breakfast (optional) watching the fishermen pulling in their catch and observe the sunrise. The rooms are simple, however with A/C and all you need. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Good value and fair price.

Beach front small hotel and owner, Mr Kadir is a very helpful person. Lot of fishing boats can see in the morning and not a busy beach area. They haven't restaurant and but owner provided us cup of tea. If you are a beach lover, this is the place to be relax & spend more time. Value for the money.

Friendly place right on the beach so just a few metres to go for a swim. Helpful staff who can provide advice about local attractions. Various places to eat nearby but aimed at the locals which was fine for me but might not suit everyone. Quiet part of town so I slept well.

The location is so relaxing and so proximate to the water's edge. It feels like private beach with a whole cast of fisher folk who cast the nets each day for the freshest catch you could dream of.

The location of the accomodation was good. It was calm place with access to beach in the backyard. The staff were also very friendly and were quick to give info or required facilities.
