The accommodation was very centrally located, very clean, comfortable, and we even had a free parking space for our tuk-tuk. The only downside was that the price was a bit high.

This was up there with one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka. Located slightly up a hill in Ella you are close enough to easily walk into town (less than 5 mins) but still feel out the way of the hustle and bustle. It was a little oasis for us to return to in the evening. The family who run the guest house are charming, super attentive and friendly. We loved our breakfast on the balcony each morning watching birds and hearing the sounds of the surrounding jungle. The room was spacious and comfortable and I would definitely recommend this stay to others :)

I had a nice room, just enough space, the water was warm. It doesnt have AC, but i did not need it anyway. The owner is nice and the breakfast is good. The place is just a little up the hill, not much walking, and right in the center.

Quite a steep hill to walk up to accommodation if you have mobility problems.

The location was good near the centre and lots of bars and restaurants. Idea for stopover to get train to Kandy. Family very friendly and helpful. Lovely outdoor area with great sunset views.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was well kitted out, and the location of the guesthouse was ideal, far enough away from the noise of Ella but only 5 min walk into the centre. The breakfast was really tasty, with a lovely view of the mountains.

Ella fully takes care of the touristic needs of the people from Europe and the US, so it doesn't really feels like a real Sri Lankan town should feel and that's a pity

Ella is a nice city but much to touristic for my taste. The room and the host and his wife are great (very helpfull). It's more a homestay or a B&B then a hotel. It's just outside the city were it can be noisy (walking distance).

The house is near the main road which is comfortable on the one side but it means also that you can hear a beat from a party every night (not too loud, so it was okay, but when you are sensitive to noises it’s not the best place to stay).

It was clearly visible that the place needed some maintenance and that there is a high potential. This includes at the entry to the hotel and just outside, there was clear signs of the construction going on.

The view from the room was fantastic, that you could sit outside and have an amazing view and eat your breakfast. Furthermore, the service and the family running the place were soooo nice. The room was nice, but nothing special.

Not a disadvantage / inconvenience, just bear in mind that you need cash for accomodation and the tours, as they cannot (yet) take card payments.

It was the perfect accomodation for a view days in Ella - very centrally located, yet a bit outside the party street and up the hill, therefore nicely quiet and with a fantastic view. Rich breakfast on the balcony overlooking Ella Rock - a spotlessly clean, cosy and functional room and bathroom - but most of all the host family were the highlights (and made us extend our stay from initially planned two to three nights). Gajith took us on a "tea tour" tailored to our wishes and preferances, then on another tour to the magnificent Mahamevnama Monastery, and then organised the next leg of our journey (to Yala National Park and then onwards to Tangalle) for us - for very fair prices and with equally great guides and drivers.

Not a major thing as I had my own plug with two usb charging points, but there could have been more electricity sockets to charge phones, cameras etc.

The view from our room was spectacular and the breakfasts, which we ate on the balcony, were delicious, the best we had in Sri Lanka. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming and helped us decide what to do during our stay. This included a tuk tuk ride to Liptons Seat, after which we walked down through the tea plantations to Dambatenne tea factory, one of our favourite days of our holiday.

Not much to "not like" - take a bit of care on the steps up to the first and second floors if they are wet, but it's not a major hazard, and otherwise the place is fantastic

Would stay here again anytime. The room (first floor) was clean, comfy bed, mosquito net, good air con, nice bathroom with reliable hot water. Breakfast was excellent, and the view even better - Ella Rock, plenty of birds in the trees just off the balcony, occasional monkey. Nice balcony out the front to relax on & gaze at Ella Rock, there's plenty of birds in the trees just off the balcony, and the occasional squirrel. Close enough to town for an easy walk in - as previous people have mentioned, there is a hill to walk up to get home (about 180-200 paces I'd say, and not as tough as it looks from the base!!) but that wouldn't stop me from staying again; also there is some early morning noise from a nearby temple, but it's more background noise, than "in your face" and I think you'd hear it from a lot of places in Ella. Gajith was a great host, and his wife (sorry but her name escapes me) is a great cook; the whole family was very warm and welcoming, but not intrusive during our stay. I think the cost is reasonable - not cheap, but not expensive for Ella, and is good value. Pay the extra few $ for a room with a view.
