Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceThe owner should be more accessible.
The owner only came the morning I left. The guardian is nice but doesn't speak much English. The room is fine, mosquito net. Bathroom fine, cold shower. Would appreciate a fridge. Very quiet place. Breakfast fine.

United KingdomYou MUST have, or be prepared to arrange, your own transport! You are MILES from any restaurants or facilities. The kitchen was being refitted during our stay so we hired a scooter for the length of our stay and ate out. If the kitchen is fitted out correctly it will be a superb retreat from the hustle and bustle. Sampath, I'll be watching ... 😅
Comfortable, clean, well appointed and equipped room with good WiFi. Set amidst the forest 12km from town, it is extraordinarily quiet day and night. The genial host, Sampath, offers much and is eager to please.

PolandThe villa was located outside of the city, quite far, but you can see it on the map while booking the place. The internet is not great for working, but for normal usage is good enough. There were many bugs coming to our room. The transport from the city to the villa was not free, as written on booking. Filtered water was available only sometimes (when there was someone at the villa), so sometimes we had to wait till the morning to get some water.
We enjoyed our stay at the Forest Villa, mainly because of the very friendly host Sampath. He did his best to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. He was always willing to help us and meet our needs. He also organized a Wilpattu National Park full day safari for us for a very good price and it was really amazing! On our way back to the villa it was not a problem for him to stop to buy takeaway dinner or to stop at the shop. We rented bikes to us (for free), so we could move around the city. There was free filtered water at the villa. The breakfast was very nice, we also ordered an additional dinner (rice & curry) which was very tasty too. He gave us many tips and answered all our questions. He also helped us to rent a scooter. In the room there was both AC and a fan. We had a small terrace. We really enjoyed our stay!

CanadaThe grounds themself are not immaculate but a bit wild and unkempt. I don't mind that because I was not at the actual property except to have breakfast and sleep. There are monkeys and birds around. The monkeys never came close however and so they were not an issue.
This place is very much in a jungle area and the host, Sampath, was key to making the stay enjoyable. The room was immaculately clean and the air con was quiet and worked well. Sampath is an expert guide for Anuradnapura and I went on a fantastic tour with him there and over to Minitale as well. I doubled on his motorbike and he is an expert driver (he also can use a car or bicycle). Sampath took us to a spot midday for a swim to cool down and refresh for the second half of the day. Breakfast at the homestay was simple and tasty. Overall, it is a very convenient and very affordable place to stay with a lovely man as host. The stay and the guided tour are a very convenient combo.

Value for money and how friendly the host and is uncle where. The host wasn't around due to sri lankan New year but he kept in contact with us via calls and WhatsApp massages. Uncle was very friendly and wanted to show his own house a couple 100 meter away. So we went and it was a nice bonus. We could also leave our luggage after checkout time to pick it up later

GermanyThe place is quite far away from the road and Anuradhapura. If you have your own ride it is perfect. Otherwise you have to get a TukTuk every time you want to go somewhere. With PickMe we paid ~ 1300 SLR from the busstand to the place.
Very kind host and owner. He organised bicycles for us and even dropped us off at the bus stand on the last day. He can also give you a lot of information on places to visit in the area and organise tours. The place is quiet and out in the green. You can see a lot of birds.

NetherlandsOne room is with airco the other one not. It lays in a wood so there is enough shadow.
The owner was a fantastic guide to the Ruvanveli Seya Dagobe (temple). He showed us a more than 2000 year old holey trea. It is a good location when you cross the country from west to east.

NetherlandsI got picked up at the bus station by the friendly owner, which was very convenient. The room is in a quiet rural area, outside the city. Clean bathroom and comfortable bed. Had a good breakfast as well. The owner is a tour guide of the city, and will show you around, whatever you wanna see. So I had a personal tour guide for the sightings that I wanted to see. Also, after one night I did a jungle tour experience in a tree house, that was offered by the owner. I can really recommend doing that, as it's a true authentic Sri Lankan experience. We stayed for one night in the jungle, while we went hunting and fishing for food, and did a small boat tour. Great experience, accompanied by a lot of friendly family members of Sampath, I felt very welcome as a guest.

United KingdomVery basis. Middle of no where. Own transport needed/or rely on Sampath on book Tuk Tuk which charged tourist prices. No where to go near by & find transport .
Peaceful, unspoilt. Lovely Wildlife. Very small building with only 2 rooms in total. Real true Sri Lankan experience. Managed by a very nice young man, Sampath. He is very enthusiastic & does him best to please his customers. Very good food if you are vegetarian.

NetherlandsEvergreen Villa was definitely the nicest place we stayed at during our trip in Sri Lanka so far. The owner and his uncle are just the nicest people, they are so welcomjng and make sure everything is well arranged. From the outstanding breakfast, the trips together to the temples, meeting the family during a cookery class and playing cards in the evening - it was all just really fun. We liked the calm atmosphere of the surrounding nature, and when driving our tuktuk back on the road to the Villa it really felt like coming home. Sad to be leaving but definitely a place to come back to, and a recommendation to anyone that would like to truly experience Anuradhapura!

The included Food was fantastic, traditional Sri Lankan Breakfast and Tea in the Morning and at Night, the owner lent us bicycles and told us the best places around to see. It‘s located in a very quiet calm place sorrounded by the owner‘s Garden and forests....the room has a nice clean bathroom and his own terrace.
