Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe stayed two nights, and although very comfortable and lovely hosts it was one night too many as there is not anything to do in the area apart from the safari and elephant transition home.
The staff were very kind, welcoming and helpful. They assisted us to plan the safari, made us delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and got us a takeaway. The glass wall is amazing in the bedroom as you can see right into the elephant park. Sadly we didn’t see any but caught lots of other wildlife.

United StatesNothing bad.
Excellent accommodations and staff. A great large room with good AC and great WiFi. VERY quiet. They arranged a private safari for only $40 for a 4 hour 2pm-6pm event which was amazing. And so much cheaper.

United StatesExcellent staff, excellent breakfast. the manager organized our safari for us. We did everything via email and instant messaging. I must admit I was a little worried trying to organize all this from the US. But I needn't have. The safari guide was good, but a little over zealous trying to get to the best spots. We did see a lot of elephants, and crocodiles though. The elephant rehabilitation center is walking distance from this place. We stayed 1 night - arrived in the afternoon, went to the elephant rehab to see the feeding, up at 5 am the next morning for safari (guide right on time). Take a light jacket if you are doing the am safari - the drive in can be "cool". We had an amazing dinner and breakfast. But if you want to eat out there is a place between the lodge and the elephant rehab center which seems nice - next time! Overall it was very chill, exactly what we needed/wanted and well organized and will plan to stay there again if when we next visit Udawalawe. Did I mention the property has an amazing orchard. Walk around - its full of fruit trees and herbal plants! And a lot of the produce is what is served at meal times!

AustraliaThe bed was great but the chairs in the room and on the balcony were not comfortable in the least. We could not sit in any of them long enough to read a book. A small detail but with not much to do there in the evening, finding a comfy spot to read a book is imperative.
This charming set of rooms is clean, quiet, quite large and overall comfy with balconies that overlook the Udawadale Reserve, right along the fence line. We only stayed one night, so didn't interact much with the staff but those that we did were very welcoming and helpful. Owner packed us a small breakfast for our early morning safari--included in room rate. An outstanding value at $40 USD a night.

We were extremely comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond to feed us, helped us get laundry done, and arranged for an AMAZING Safari with an OUTSTANDING driver/guide… We could not be more satisfied! The breakfasts were wonderful. They made us a late night snack of french fries and fruit, hit the spot!

PolandWell, everything: - very supportive stuff: helped with arranging great safari tour late at night; gave advice about nice place to eat out; arranged take away snacks at 6am for the safari tour. - closed territory, with big parking area (at least 2 cars and a couple of scooters will fit there without any problem and space will remain), it has CCTV around the territory - good Wi-Fi - very spacious room and clean room with almost ideal facilities (I didn’t expect it for such price with last minute booking) - toiletry accessories were provided along with coffee and tea - all rooms face the territory of the national park, and in the morning we’ve seen buffalos - quiet place

IrelandChic, cozy place, spacious room with huge privet bathroom, private terrace. Very clean. The service was at the highest level, the host and staff greeted us warmly, satisfied all our requests, even moved breakfast to lunch, wich was huge and very tasty with tradional Sri Lanka dishes and juices from the their own garden fruits. Feels happy and like visiting Sri Lanka family or met old friends. I highly recommend the place definitely come back.
