Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Could have done with a thicker bed sheet.
Absolutely brilliant value for money (I think this is the first time I've ever given somewhere 10/10!). There were so many little things that you don't expect at somewhere this cheap, such as, free toiletries, a fridge, international/multi type plug sockets, branded towels. The hosts were friendly and the breakfast was so good and huge (I felt so bad I couldn't finish it!). It was also spotlessly clean. Also the shower was so good, incredibly hot and powerful, and it didn't soak the bathroom either. Also my 5 am arrival wasn't a problem for them.

The AC was working but we felt it wasn't really getting cold enough in the room. Maybe it needs to be serviced. Other than that the room was perfect.
Perfect if you need a place to stay close to the airport. The breakfast was nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean room.

The location is situated close to local restaurants and attractions. The rooms are clean and providing a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast is nice to start the day right. We stayed here the first day of our trip and then came back for our last day because the people who own the guesthouse are so nice, they have good breakfast and the room we stayed in was perfec with a good bed! Cannot recommend this accomodation enough. Thank you!

Owners are very friendly. Rooms are very clean, as well as towels and bedsheets. Bathroom was clean as well. Breakfast was superb and more than enough. The house is located in a small alley away from the main road, so no noise from the streets. Best value for money if you stay here for 1 night.

It’s impeccably clean and quiet, but close to everything. The family who run it are very helpful and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable (even getting up at an obscene hour of the morning to provide a takeaway breakfast - such a kind thing to do!). I felt very safe as a solo traveller, too. Can’t fault it.

Fair walk from train and bus stations and downtown. . Tuk Tuks available everywhere though if you don't want to walk Airport pickup seemed expensive compared with everything else. Wifi somewhat slow. Still giving them a 9 rating though.
Very clean. Good location for restaurants. Excellent breakfast. Hospitable staff. Central to the touristy hotels and restaurants.

Nothing about the homestay. Negombo is probably a location for 1 and 2 nights only. Beach is ok, but not the best and a bit dirty. We used it to get our bearings and pick up a tuk tuk.
Excellent homestay. We stayed for 2 nights after arriving in Sri Lanka. In a good location and lots of restaurants in both directions from the accomodation. Staff were very friendly and willing to help. They arranged an airport pick up for decent price. Nice breakfast and also gave us it packaged up the second morning as we left early. Room clean, comfortable and a good shower.

Nothing really. Add crunchy granola, pineapple or peanut butter to the breakfast.
This guest house was super clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is quiet for being centrally located. My room had AC and a ceiling fan, perfect for fine tuning the temperature. For nearby restaurants I defintely recommend the Zen Cafe (homemade granola) and Jhony Food (kottu roti). The roof terrace has good views.

We liked everything! Easy to find, near to the restorants. The whole place is extraordinary clean. Comfortable beds, air condition, coffee and tea available at the room. Rich breakfast with fresh juice and fruit. Very nice hosts, we have been welcomed with a bottle of cold water and because our flight was late at the evening they have kept our luggage free of charge after checking out. They offer also transfer to the airport. I would highly recommend this place to anyone searching for stay in Negombo!

The wifi was in and out. There were times it was on, but it wasn’t connected to the internet. I would highly recommend getting a data plan at the airport. It’s cheap.
This guesthouse exceeded my expectations. It’s like a hidden gem! The hosts were very nice and accommodating. They made my trip in Sri Lanka a great one for my family and I! The place was really clean and they were very helpful when we had questions about the area and tours. Thank you so much for hosting us! It’s a wonderful place to stay while you are in Negombo. It kind of feels like home!

The owners/staff were really friendly and helpful. We arrived very early in the morning and they gave us a room to rest. They were also very helpful concerning the planing of our trip! The breakfast was very good! We totally recommend it!!

Good hotel to spend the night before or after your flight. They have an airport shuttle, nice and clean rooms with AC and the people working there are super helpful and friendly.
