Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomHigh up on the hillside the views from here are amazing. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and breakfast excellent. Its about a 15/20 minute walk down into town but easier to take a tuk tuk back up to the main road steps from where you climb about 150m up a steep set of steps. You do need to be fairly fit to stay here but recomend it!

AustriaWhen we arrived we stayed at the beautiful big shared Terrasse for a while, taking in the amazing view, drinking the welcome-tea. The view from the balkony in our room was amazing too, we loved to sit there in the morning, facing the sunset or watching the fog cut through the mountains. In the first night there was a bad smell in the bathroom, but wer're pretty sure that this is because of the heavy rain that accured during the day. On day 2 the smell was gone. Breakfast was basic but okay with a lot of tea. Host and staff were nice and helpful. The road up to the homestay is really tricky especially when raining, but there is also a shortcut only walkable by foot. It was a nice stay with nice host and nice view.

United KingdomA tuk tuk is needed to get from the main road to the property and down to town- this is not really an issue as was very cheap and the owner is able to run guests back and forth as needed. Just be aware of this .
The rooms were sufficient , clean with a comfortable bed… however the views from the balcony were probably the most spectacular seen all holiday and are literally at the top of a mountain range. This made it worth it for the price alone .

Australiafood was basic, and at times cold. However it was always given enthusiastically and with fruit which went down a treat. Didn’t come for the included food however so not really phased :)
Amazing view, can’t beat it. The staff were so lovely and answered any question/ask we had! There is a little nightly walk to get up to the hotel but it was good after eating out. The view is worth it +++ and considering the price it’s an amazing deal we think :)

United Arab Emirates-
If you’re wondering whether to book a room here—definitely yes! We rented a car and drove here ourselves. The road was quite challenging, with steep inclines. Tip: Contact the hotel in advance and ask them to show you the easier route! The first thing we encountered was the incredible hospitality of the staff. They greeted us with a tuk-tuk, helped us navigate the difficult road, carried our luggage, and welcomed us with a delicious nighttime tea. The hotel owner is amazing, and the atmosphere is truly special. The view from the room speaks for itself, the rooms are comfortable, and there’s hot water (which is a big plus in Sri Lanka!). Breakfasts are delicious, and the hotel even has its own tuk-tuk to take you to the city. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! I’ll definitely recommend this place to my friends.

EstoniaThe place is outside of Ella Town, but the view is spectacular. Ella Town is accessible by foot or tuk-tuk, but it's mountains, so consider that the walk is like a hike.

United KingdomInformation about accessing the hotel could have been a good deal better. Our taxi driver dropped us at the bottom of a very steep dirt track as he said he could take us no closer in his car. This meant we undertook a 40 minute climb up this track in 35 degree heat dragging and carrying our bags. This access issue also means tuk tuk drivers charge an increased amount for a return journey from Ella although there is a 15 minute short cut to get down there using steps. There is no restaurant at the hotel so we had to take a 10 minute walk down and back to the main road for dinner (you need a good torch and some energy) or negotiate a tuk tuk to Ella and back.
Set in the hills surrounding Ella, the hotel offers a respite from the hot, noisy smelly, crowded, fume-filled village. Our comfortable room had a balcony with views over the spectacular country surrounding Ella and the many view points that people come to visit. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. Lots of fresh fruit, eggs and toast.

FranceThe place is a bit difficult to reach (it's more a little path than a road). If you're coming by yourself, you should may be call the staff so they explain you which road to take, instead of following Google Map (the way with google map is shorter but very tricky, especially for cars)
We stayed here for one night, and the view is really stunning. Probably one of the best view of Ella ! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff is also really nice. We were welcomed with a good tea. And the breakfast is really good as well!

FinlandYou can’t really walk up or down, or I wouldn’t suggest it, since the hotel is very high up a difficult street. Our taxi couldn’t make it all the way up, so just take a tuktuk. The road is pretty scary tbh 😄 but the views were worth it!
The views are amazing! Get a room with a balcony towards Ella Rock/the gap, you wont regret it. Bed was super comfy and it had an actual blanket, instead of just a sheet. Hot water in the shower, good breakfast. They have a tuktuk, and driver will take you to the city for a fixed price of 1000LRP, and to little adam’s peak trailhead/nine arches bridge for 1500LRP. The service overall was amazing, the owner is so kind.

Golden View Guest House in Ella is a fantastic place to stay for anyone visiting this charming mountain town. The guest house is perfectly located, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, including landmarks like Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak. The rooms are clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, many with private balconies that let you enjoy the stunning scenery right from your doorstep. The beds are comfortable, and the amenities, including hot showers and reliable Wi-Fi, add to the overall convenience. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals, with breakfasts being particularly noteworthy—perfectly enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the picturesque landscape. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay here. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was tasty every morning. Our room was nice and we loved the balcony overlooking Little Adam’s Peak, the views were beautiful. The guest house is right at the top of the hill. We got a tuk tuk up once when it was raining but otherwise walked it every time up and down. It is doable and there are a few steps as shortcuts but it’s pretty steep in places. The balcony views were worth it in our opinion! I spent my 30th birthday here and the staff along with my partner kindly arranged a cake for me which was a lovely surprise.

AustraliaOur 5 night stay at golden view was amazing! We were kindly collected from the train station and were given a cup of tea on check in. The room was gorgeous with an amazing view of Ella from the balcony. The staff were so kind, always offering assistance with any questions we had. The breakfast was delicious as well. The location, though it was at the top of Ella was perfect. Only a 15 minute walk down to the town using the shortcuts or a 5 minute tuk tuk ride, it was worth it for the incredible views and the peaceful sounds.
