Genuinely the nicest people running the hotel. The breakfast is HUGE and you won’t need to eat for hours but it’s the hosts that make you feel at home. It’s a great location for things in Madiha and it’s very reasonable with price and clean. I’ve stayed in a variety of places in Sri Lanka but this was my favourite.

I had a wonderful time at Gypsea’. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was so good, perfect way to start the day. The location was close to the beach and walking distance to many other cafes and restaurants. It was the perfect place to relax for a week. I will definitely be back.

The property is clean with nice decor. Large bathroom and an ok size living space. The breakfast was very nice, the Sri Lankan breakfast is the best I’ve had since being in the country. Very tasty and a little but spicy. The host were very welcoming and helpful.

I spent 5 nights at Gypsea Madiha in February 2025. I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for quiet, comfortable, and central accommodation. The location is incredibly close to the beach, where turtles frequent. There's also nearby local grocery stores, good cafe/restaurant options, and boutiques, all within easy walking distance. The rooms are super clean and tastefully decorated with a good private bathroom. Some of the reviews reference the lack of hot water - maybe it was the time of year I visited, but the water temperature was fine for me without a heating system. Wifi is fast, and the outside area is a cool place to take your meals. You can also get a nice view of Madiha from the upstairs section. The best part of Gypsea Madiha are the staff - everyone is incredibly warm and eager to assist you in any way so that you enjoy your stay as much as possible. Second best part are the Sri Lankan breakfasts - some of my favourite meals from 1 month in Sri Lanka! Thanks so much to the Gypsea Madiha crew for creating such a cosy environment and also for the efforts you make for the street animals of Sri Lanka. I'll be recommending you guys to friends and family. Hopefully I'll be back to see your other location one day too!

It was the best accommodation I have experienced in my last 6 months of travel in Asia. Shannon, his partner and the rest of the staff provider the best service I have ever experienced. They really took care of me and of the other guests. I felt like I was at home from the first moment I arrived. Incredible food experience with Sri Lankan traditional food at the breakfast and there is possible to order something special for breakfast if you wish or have need. clean and beautiful rooms. I liked it so much that the towels and bed linen smelled so good. The rooms are simple and beautifully designed with bright colors. Quiet and peaceful location. Close to local shops, coffee, restaurants and just a few minutes walk from the ocean. I have changed my plans and extended my stay at this amazing place Yes I can 100% recommend this place!

Really nothing

Very cosy and clean room, with comfortable bed, AC and a good shower. All rooms are located around a nice green courtyard and a little kitchen where breakfast and lunch is prepared. All people that work there are so lovely and kind. They also really care about the street animals and adopted some cute dogs and cats. The food is a real pleasure and one of the best I had in Sri Lanka so far, with vegetarian options that were just so yummy. THANK YOU so much for this lovely experience!

The most amazing stay in Sri Lanka. Rooms are clean, bright and modern with a neat design. Location is a bit further from city centre so you can enjoy calm and relaxing evenings , but close by are all the restaurants,shops and beaches you need. Breakfast is super good- fresh and filling. Hosts are the best people you will meet in Sri Lanka. They’re gonna be there for everything you need, at any time. (Even at night time getting my wife flowers, for Valentines day) Best stay in Sri Lanka by far. 10/10

From the very beginning, Krish made our stay so comfortable that we felt very comfortable. He is very warm and took great care of us. The location is very close to the beach, just a few meters down the road. You can rent sunbeds on the beach, so it's definitely not a disadvantage. It's very close to various great restaurants. The room itself is very large, bright, well furnished with a closet etc. and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was also large. The room and the entire complex are lovingly designed and well looked after. An absolute hit in terms of price/performance. We would come back here in a heartbeat.

No hot water, but to be honest you didn’t really need it as the shower was almost warm.

Room was lovely and comfortable with a nice en suite bathroom. Service and breakfast were excellent. Krish is a great host and it was in a nice quiet spot very close to the beach and restaurants.

Extremely clean, lovely people working at the property, nice modern room! We were greeted with a coconut which was a very nice touch. Great location close to beaches. Had breakfast also which was delicious! Even got our Landry done which was ready in couple of hours.

The property was well situated between the ocean/ main road and all the cute cafes and restaurants. The host were lovely and welcomed us with a coconut and even let us check in early.

The only thing I would point out is that some nights were a bit noisy with dogs barking. But some nights were super quiet.

Such a nice place! The location is perfect and the staff were really sweet and very attentive to us. The rooms are really nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great. I highly recommend this place and won’t hesitate to come back. The dogs that they take care of are adorable.

Room and bathroom especially was quite small. Things to note that there is no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and also no hot water ( we didn’t really need but if it was cooler it would be an issue ). These were two things we weren’t aware of and made it not great value for money.

Place was clean and staff were lovely and helpful. Location was also clear retry good.

The following need to be taken care of - 1. Geyser to be provided in bathroom. 2. Side tables by the side of the beds. The family room we took had just one table so keeping small stuff like watches, wallets, specs, mobiles, etc. was an issue. 3. provide geyser in bathroom. 4. Mosquito repellent in the room. We had mosquitoes buzzing around during the night. 5. the ceiling fans need to be cleaned. They were dusty so we could not start them.

The Staff, Krish was very friendly and organised a very sumptious breakfast. Room size was good. Its a small but very cosy property. Location also is very good close to the beach.
