Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Czech RepublicOnly down is a bit higher prices for drinks or extra service. Some details needs also few patches.
Very nice and ideal for tea lovers. Looks like a castle on the hill. Hotel is made from factory and every day they start the old giant machine to show how it was. Very nice food. You have their own tea everywhere so ideal for tasting. Recomend tea picking and visit of small factory next to the hotel. You have great view on hills and two plantations. We had also great massage. If you want you can walk on the hills around which is nice for hikes.

South AfricaThere was nothng that we did not like.
The stay in renovated and repurposed old building was one of our highlights of our 8 days in Sti Lanka. The tea picking tour was outstanding informative and interesting. The high tea on the lawn was magnificant. The dinner was also delightful and we liked your idea of a dress code. We unfortunately did not have a breakfast due to the fact that we had to leave early.

United KingdomIt is in a remote location and not much to do around the hotel. I wish there were more walking routes however mostly uphill. Tea tasting experience was advertised at 2 hours only took 30mins actually. I also found the beds and sofa had many bugs we were waking up every morning with new bites. You can hear the above guests and close rooms walking and any kind of movement. For a 5* star hotel I’d except bit more luxury than out dated carpet and sofas which we avoided sitting on after been bitten all over our legs. The gym also very outdated barely any space to walk. If you want to use steam room you have to pay extra. Dumbbells were very old and rusty. Looked like that it hasn’t been updated for many years. Any normal annuities you would get at 5* you had to pay extra. Such as pool table and steam room. Considering it is remote there should be better annuities. I felt like it was over priced and didn’t get moneys worth.
The views were unreal from the hotel. It’s a picturesque location. The chef Balveer Singh made sure we were well looked after and made delicious food to cater to our dietary requirements.

United KingdomOur room was stunning with full glazed walls on three sides but it got very cold so needed a fan heater and a blanket! The staff were great but the men on reception were a bit cold - no ‘welcome to our hotel etc’ no ‘thank you for your stay’ etc. they need to go on a course but all the other staff, the waiters and others were brilliant.
One of the most interesting and wonderful hotels we’ve stayed in. Staying in a real tea factory with award winning architecture, reusing much of the structure, running the original machinery every night. Beautiful location, really great - we loved it.

The Flower Dew suit was spacious and offered sweeping views. The porter Muthusamy gave us a warm welcome and was delightful and helpful during our stay.

AustraliaGiven the historical renovations, the rooms are not the most comfortable if planning to stay for multiple nights. The rooms and showers are small but fine for a one night stay. Dining was fairly limited with only buffet or fine dining options for dinner.
We loved the novel design and historical features in the hotel. We did the tea tasting experience with Krishna which was amazing, we learnt so much from her about the tea making process and how to properly brew and taste tea. Would definitely recommend visiting to friends and family. We wish we had time to use the spa which was reasonably priced!

We will never forget our time at the Heritance Tea Factory. The services are impressive. We also learned a lot about the history of this place and how they still produce their own tea.

United KingdomOnly minor points: The bathroom in our room was a little worn in comparison to the rest of the hotel. As it’s such an old building/conversion, the walls are very thin.
Certainly the most interesting hotel we’ve stayed in! Beautiful location, wonderful staff! The tea plucking and tea tasting experience is definitely worth doing. Thank you to the lovely lady who led this. The food was definitely up there with the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka, if not the best. We wish we could have stayed longer!
