I had a wonderful stay at Hiding Unawatuna! This nature-friendly villa is a true hidden gem in the heart of Unawatuna. The peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by lush greenery, instantly made me feel relaxed and at home. The pool was perfect for cooling off after a warm day exploring the area, and the overall vibe of the place was serene and welcoming. One of the highlights was definitely the breakfast – absolutely delicious with generous options. Our room was large, clean, comfortable and we loved the indoor/outdoor bathroom. The garden and pool are beautiful and a great quiet place to relax after a day at the beach. Breakfast was also really nice, and the hosts were very helpful.

This is a wonderful place to stay with genial and caring owners, friendly and efficient staff, a delightful pool (cleaned regularly) and magnificent breakfasts. Choose between a full English or traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Unawatuna Beach is a fairly busy place with lots of music at nights so be prepared for some late night parties on the beach side. The garden suites beside the pool are delightful. There is no sign for the hotel on the main road so look for the Happy Banana hotel which is right across the road.

The new owners of the property worked so hard to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. All the staff were friendly and cheerful. We were offered a variety of breakfasts over our five day stay. We loved the granola, fruit and yogurt. When our friends came to meet us they were also offered tea and coffee and made to feel welcome. We had the room with the kitchen which was a large room with a big balcony. We didn’t really need the kitchen but the washing machine was useful as we were in the middle of a four week trip.

It was quite hard to find people if you needed something - would be good if they had someone on reception. When we arrived we were only shown to room but weren’t given any information about breakfast or things nearby or the room etc. some rooms had an info sheet I think but we didn’t in our room. WiFi didn’t work well. They are new so still adding final details like hairdryers and clothes racks in each room and anything you’re missing - just ask the owner who is lovely and she will get it for you.

Lovely building and style. Big, bright rooms. Very boutique - I love the rattan and details like ceramic door knobs, shutters and headboards and little stars in the floor. Breakfast was very good - eggs how you like them, fresh juice different each day, toast, cheese, real bacon! Very good location - close to restaurants and beach and everything you need. Staff were very sweet and kind.

‏Inside the room, I appreciated the mini fridge stocked with drinks and chocolates, adding to the overall comfort. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed.

I recently stayed at a lovely place in Unawatuna for two nights, and it was a wonderful experience. The property features a beautiful garden that creates a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. My room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, providing a great space to unwind. The pool was amazing—definitely a highlight of my stay! The pricing was reasonable, making it a great value for the quality of the experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the welcome drink of king coconut, which was a refreshing touch.

Love this place, Fantastic location , so close to many restaurants and specialty few steps to the beach. Gorgeous swimming pool and super clean huge room. The owners are very pleasant to deal with. It is very tranquil and peaceful and of course you can hide in Unawatuna.

Due to the fact that it is new hotel they have organization problems like they dint have hair dryer, which later was brought to us but we waited a day for it, no iron or menu for breakfast, the owner apologized to us for inconvenience,but still there are many issues like breakfast time 8:30 and it is not ready at 8:30 they start preparing only and 9:30 it is ready, it is super late for breakfast time. They need to work harder on getting it all together. In addition, be careful for paying by card they want extra3%. We had a room with open shower and it was terrible, the amount of mosquitos there was enormous. Consider it when booking that room with garden view. There is no view anywhere, just a lot of mosquitos

The location was great, the rooms are fresh and clean. Breakfast is tasty if you can wait an hour for it.
