The food was outstanding. I would return just to have the breakfast! The staff were so nice and accommodating. The view was amazing. When I arrived I was greeted with tea and coffee and a big comfortable chair to enjoy the view.

There was very little that we did not like about this property!

Hide View is a remarkable property situated above Ella. The view from our balcony and from the main dining room was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen; we woke up early one morning to watch the sunrise and it took our breath away. The room itself was comfortable, clean and well-appointed, with a new and powerful shower. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They helped us to arrange transport around the area (with an excellent driver) and were forthcoming with suggestions and recommendations. We also enjoyed discussing the local wildlife over breakfast with them! Breakfast was generous and tasty, with a spread of tea, coffee, juice, fruit, pancakes, hoppers and a choice of eggs. Despite appearing to be quite difficult to find, the hotel is well-known by tuktuk drivers and surprisingly easy to access. It is only about 5 minutes down to Ella town, so it is very easy to get around. Ella was perhaps our favourite place in Sri Lanka, and this was in no small part due to the excellent experience we had at Hide View.

Hide view is the perfect place to stay in Ella. The hotel/room view is breathtaking and the hotel is very comfortable (big rooms, very clean). The staff is truly amazing. Especially, Priyantha who is a chef and cooks amazing food, and was always available: he even managed to make us an early breakfast before hiking. He was always friendly and it was lovely to chat with him.

-Location can be tricky but manageable to get there using maps and they help you with luggage and stuff since it’s a bit downhill.

-Cheap option to get that nice view overlooking the mountains and falls. -Staff are great and always ready to help with anything. -Breakfast is good. They also offer food for lunch/dinner.

First of all: I would change the name into: PERFECT VIEW ELLA! We've had such a great stay! Super friendly host and service! Every morning an amazing breakfast with a stunning view + some animal watching! Also the rooms are perfect! You have a fridge and a balcony! The host was always reliable and provided us with a lot of tips. We were at hide view Ella during sri lankans new years holiday and we even received some traditional sweets! So lovely! Also when we left we got some bananas as Proviant for our ride! Maybe a small side note: if you travel with your own tuk tuk/vehicle: obviously, for a good view you have to drive up up up and the last road is a little bit steep and bumpy but it's manageable! Overall: big recommendation! Thanks for having us!

the nicest place we stayed in during our 3 weeks of travel! the view is amazing (you see little adams peak, Ella rock and a waterfall), the room and the whole interior of the place is very neat, beautiful and you feel overly welcome. Pryantha (our cook, chef, tuktuk driver) is amazing. he even got up early with us the last morning to fix us breakfast at 6am - thank you so much!

It's a bit further from the centre, which is either a good or a bad think. It's still possible to walk by a short cut or take a fast tuk tuk drive. Could be other drinks than beer available.

That view!! So stunning. The view from our lovely room (very clean and comfy with a couch and a nice thick blanket) balcony was incredible and the view from the upstairs common room/ restaurant was even better. It rained during our stay and it was so cozy to sit sipping tea on our balcony. It was a bit out of town up a hill, so we did not walk but instead took tuk tuks up and down (which the homestay called for us when we wanted to go down) for less than $2 each trip. The included breakfast was very big and delicious and the staff helped us arrange to contact the train station when we left something behind. We ate lunch in the restaurant one of the days and it was delicious too. And again, the view!! So so nice.

Available, friendly and helpful staff, great hospitality. The whole team did everything they could to help us with whatever need we had, even arranging a yoga space on the rooftop for us! Huge and delicious breakfast served with love every morning with the panoramic breathtaking view on the mountains, and the hornbills playing around. They also took us on a great day trip to a waterfall and some sightseeing on the way. The place is very quiet and wonderful to rest from the hustle and bustle of the beaches and cities. We stayed 12 days there and really felt home.

Its not a big issue but just to say that you need to go down by the long old stairs to reach the hotel. but the staff are there all the time if you need help.

The hotel is very small, but in total it was super nice the staying and comfortable. The view was amazing from the balcony in our room. there was a waterfall as well. you can hear and see the train in the mountain moving. The same view as well was in the restaurant. Staff were helpful and wonderful. There is a small car (small toktok) to pick you up if needed from the hotel or even to take you to any place by requesting. Breakfast was delicious and made freshly with fresh juice. You can reach the hotel by normal car or by (toktok). When you reach up by car, the hotel has long old stairs, so you need to go down walking to reach it, but staff are there to help and they pick up everything you have to take it to your room or if you are leaving the hotel.
