Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The location was perfect. Not in the crazy centre but still quite central and its near the lake which makes it a beautiful walk into town. The staff is literally amazing. Super helpful and its such a good deal staying here. Breakfast and dinner included and the hostel itself isnt big which makes it easy to connect with other travellers. Super nice vibes. AustraliaOnly negative is the rooms did have a slight damp smell if they were not one of the balcony rooms that had a door that could open for fresh air
The staff are incredibly welcoming and are willing to help with any request big or small, guaranteed you were always greeted with a smile! The property is as listed on the website and includes all extras, including the perks of breakfast, lunch and cooking classes. They always made everyone feel at home and the dinners every night were divine. The hostel is only a short walk into town and is in a quiet area of Kandy. Highly recommend booking an extra day to spend by the pool! Thank you so much for a beautiful few days in Kandy ☺️

IndiaI liked everything. Since l had come with some intentions, l would have not changed your hostel for anything else. It was very kind of you to give a very good young lad with such a pleasant helpful attitude with so much patience to take me around. I liked both the lads and that cleaning lady who were very kind to me.
I had only dinner. It was very good. That friendly, helpful pleasant attitude of the receptionist put me at ease because of that little problem l had. I liked that friendly, helpful, patient young lad who took me around Kandy. How l wish l had some more days so that l could be more relaxed and see some more places. The room was very very comfortable, nice and warm. Thanks ❤🌹a lot.

AustraliaFairly old facilities that are probably due for an update, especially the bathroom. I also had a lot of issues with the powerpoints as they are very old, so I had to borrow adapters from the staff.
Good location. Delicious dinner. Very friendly staff ready to help you with anything you need. Also beautiful dog named DJ who is the owners pet dog.

United KingdomThe bed was a little bit rocky so had to make sure we didn’t move in our sleep! The chef for the cooking course came across as if he didn’t really want to be doing it but his food more than made up for it.
The swimming pool was fun (though I wouldn’t trust the water being 100% clean…). The food from the cooking course was absolutely stunning. The staff were a great laugh and very friendly and the aircon was a life saver

SloveniaThe first bathroom (especially the shower) needs fixing, also when you shower you always get the whole toilet and bathroom wet. The walls and ceiling in the rooms are covered with mold.
The people who work at the hostel are kind and helpful, breakfast was basic but good (jam, butter, egg, toast, tea/coffee), I really really loved their free cooking class, learned a lot! Makes it really worth staying with them. The rooms and the beds were okay, comfortable.

New ZealandThe pool had a lot of floaties in it, it could do with a clean. Also there are only two bathrooms stalls on each floor so there is often a wait time. The water was off for a day, I found this out from our people staying at the hostel, not the staff. It would have been nice to have communication from them on this.
The cooking class was great, as was the free dinner and breakfast. This makes socialising with other guests easy so a group of us made plans to tour around for the following day. The staff are lovely, they organised transport for all of us. Also I left my charger and earpods behind and they arranged for another traveller to take it with them so I could grab it from them in Ella. So so helpful!
