Everything was great, the woman in charge of the hostel is very helpful and keeps everything clean. The hostel is close to everything. The owner is also nice, friendly and helpful.

Nihal, the owner, took care of me right from my arrival till I left the property. Upon arrival, he greeted me warmly and offered me a pot of coffee. We then talked for several minutes like we were old friends who’ve just reunited! The next day, when it was time for me to leave, he talked to my ride to make sure I arrive at the train station on time. He also helped me carry my luggage. Nihal is such a great person! The property itself is located on a hill with a nice view of the other hill surrounding the Kandy Lake. I really liked the vibe of the property - it is serene and green. It is also just a 20 min walk to the Temple of the Tooth Relic! While others here lamented about the fact that it’s a 20 min walk, I on the other hand enjoyed the walk around the lake. At night, I just took the cab back to the property and it costed only US$1. The room is also big and the bathroom is clean. Hot water is also working.

It's a nice walk to the city center. It's not too far, but still a 20 min walk.

The owner is really friendly. The hostel is nice and it's a really good value. Not a lot of people in every dorm. Loved the views and the tranquility.

At arrival we were greeted with a really tasty pot of tea and coffee, nicely served in a separate area with a view on Kandy. The lady was always around to help and made us feel comfortable (extra soap, bananas, tea).

Perfect location. Close to town but quiet in a good neighbourhood. Nihal and Ashoka couldn't do enough for me. They are both very kind. The room was a good size and clean.

Very nice owner, gave me coffee upon arrival and gave great local recommendations. Very clean and well-maintained property, perfect choice to stay for a few days. Nice lounge areas, nice view. Felt perfectly at home

Wauw, this place is something else! I have traveled for a long time now and this is the first place which felt like my real home. The host is giving you the best time and really cares for you. If you want to escape the hectic Kandy and come to peace, this is your place. I came back to this place for three times already and the new booking is made! Thank you Nihal for taking care of me and your excellent hospitality! You’re something else!!!!! Luckily it was not a goodbye, but a see you soon!

I think the cleaning was done regularly and although the faciities felt a bit outdated, cant say that I did not have a very comfortable stay and sleep. Complimentary coffee when checking in and walking distance to the lake, was great!

Everything was perfect. Hostel is clean and quiet. The woman is really kind and helpful, she gives you also a free towel and tea welcome. For reach the center is just 15 minutes walking. Highly recommended!

Nihal the owner is so friendly and chatty and always there offering you tea/coffee. He can give you recommendations for things to do and see and places to eat. The hostel is clean and comfortable about 15min walk to Temple of the Tooth and from there you can walk all round the lake and to the different attractions round the town and the view points. If walking isn't your thing there are tuk tuk tour options instead but personally I walked everywhere.

I just loved the building, where this hostel is located. There is one huge common area, one smaller one and balcony with view to Kandy. In this area you can find several restaurants, grocery store, bakery and fruit store.

Amazing hosts who were kind, warm, honest and went to great lengths to make my stay in Kandy truly amazing! They work hard to make all of their guests feel at home in the property! ☺️🙏🏿 The property was exceptionally clean, very comfortable and the facilities were perfect. Mosquito nets were provided & were very effective. Wifi was very strong, cooking facilities and the kitchen were provided along with beautiful coffee every morning ☺️ The property was ideally located only a short walk from local cafes & around 8-9 minutes in a Tuk Tuk to the centre ✅ The price was very cheap and reasonable! I would give this property 11/10 if that was possible! I have travelled throughout Asia and this is by far the best hostel for value that I have experienced - it exceeded all expectations 👍🙏🏿✅ I would highly recommend Lazy Bear and i will definitely return! 😀

The location on booking is not correct, it's not near the uni library, but one street below.

I was surprised by the very low price, but it turned out to be great. Whole room to myself, bathroom just next to the room. The staff was very friendly and I got complimentary teas. Quiet location, spacious house. I'm coming again.
