Lakmal and family were extremely nice and guided us throughout our stay at Sigiriya. Breakfast served was wholesome and perhaps one of the best spreads I have had at a homestay.

A very spacious, clean bungalow set in a garden with terrace for sitting in front (we had the triple room), fabulous for the price. There is a lovely shared breakfast/dinner terrace, and good home cooking is available for breakfast and dinner. The owners were very welcoming and caring, assisting us with all aspects of touring and travel. Lakmal even gave us a lift to a restaurant one day when no tuk tuk was available. Location is in Kimbissa, a little quieter than neighbouring Sigiriya, but still close to everything. Good points: Extremely comfortable and good value, very helpful staff and good food.

First off, if I could give Liyon Rest 11/10, I would most certainly do so! This was one of the best home stays I have ever had the privilege to experience. Lakmal and his family were so welcoming, warm, helpful and just generally all-around great. Our room was immaculately clean and spacious, everything was so well thought out. Lakmal has a beautiful garden which just made our whole stay so peaceful and kept the property shady and cool. For dinner, Lakmal’s mother cooked an amazing meal and breakfast was absolutely yummy too (both traditional Sri Lankan fare). The location was superb: super close to the entrance to Sigiriya and Pidurangula, and Lakmal was also able to arrange a safari trip to Minneriya National Park. Our only regret is that our stay was for one night.

It is a spacious and comfortable stay close to the Sigiriya fort. Their hospitality is commendable. We were received with welcome drinks as soon as we arrived. The breakfast was homely consisting of fresh fruits from their garden, local dishes along with a beverage of our choice. Everything was good about the stay.

We loved our stay here. Lakmal and his wife were absolutely fantastic. They welcomed us from arrival as if we were family. We were welcomed with some tea & lots of kindness. Lakmal then arranged a safari for us for that day, which was fantastic, we definitely recommend it. He also got his mother to make us some lunch quickly to have before we set off, which was amazing. The food here is the best we have had in the whole of our traveling across Sri Lanka. It cannot be missed. All the people working there were also very friendly and very lovely. Lakmals mother was very sweet and always said hello or smiled as we walked in or out, so did all the employees. The accommodation was very nice, spacious, big bathrooms. We were in the private hut and it was lovely, we had our own little deck chairs out the front that we both loved. It’s very quiet here so you can sit out on the evening and enjoy the nature, we seen lots of animals here! Even fire flies lit up the trees, almost magical. This was our favourite stay and we will definitely return to Sri Lanka & this lovely place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble, they were very accommodating and we felt welcomed instantly upon arrival. Thank You for looking after us! We loved our stay with You 🥰🥰

Are stay was excellence a perfect introduction to Sri Lanka culture, budget priced hotel with 5 star service private room and nature. Young couple on 30’s would highly recommend for your stay close to all attractions also meals were local food but everybit amazing. No fridge in room but the host are happy to store anything in there fridge and basically anything you need at anytime someone is around to help. Family ran place. You won’t regret your stay We got help with hotel transfers and all booking for activities in the area all rates were fair priced and everything we were recommended was amazing One Aussie one Canadian 🇨🇦

There is nothing that I didn't like.

Everything, I must say everything. The calmness and quietness is just fabulous. And if you want to know the ancient history of Sri Lanka, Lakmal, the owner of the resort, is the best one. His wife Shalini, and Lakmal's parents are so nice to get you the home feelings. They are not only so helpful but they receive you as a family member. The resort's main attraction is its tranquillity. The nature says you everything here. The trees, charming birds' songs, changing of color in every moment is just beyond imagination. One more thing, don't forget to see the breadfood of their garden. Mr. Lakmal is a true gentleman and well educated. He explains the history of Ceylon eruditely. For the archeology and history lovers, Mr. Lakmal should be the best choice with whom you can make a visit in Anuradhapura, the ancient city of Sri Lanka. For the spice garden (Cooking & Medicine) or any Ayurvedic treatment, Sigiriya is one of the perfect places in Sri Lanka. In that case, Mr. Lakmal is the best guy acoording to me. He can show you the best place for buying these things in reasonable price and the best quality. And one more thing, that is Janvi, the little Princess of Shalini & Lakmal. We really enjoyed our stay here. Lakmal and his family were super friendly and helpful. The accommodation has a good location in Sigiriya, we had rented our own TukTuk and we could park this easily in front of the house. Without a TukTuk the centre is reachable by foot. We had dinner twice at Liyon Rest which was delicious and each morning we enjoyed a different amazing breakfast.

Nothing. We just wish we had more time to stay, relax and enjoy the very peaceful ambience but we had to leave after breakfast the next day.

Lakmal and his family were excellent hosts. We arrived late at night without food and they managed to prepare a dinner for us. They served us a heaping plate of Sri Lankan Kottu that’s about good for 4 people. It was so delicious we couldn’t stop eating. For breakfast we had coconut roti and sweet lavaria which were also very tasty. The mom does a good job taking care of the food. As for the room and the amenities, the whole property is very clean and beautiful- it has a vibe of a small resort but also feels like an extended guest house of a family. We stayed in a bungalow like it’s our own little house with privacy so it was really nice. The room is also very clean and smelled good. Overall, you get a really good value for the price point as it is also close to Lion’s Rock and Pidurangala Rock. The place is good but their hospitality is the real winner because Lakmal and his family really know how to take care of their guests.

Lakmal and his family’s generosity and hospitality was superb. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a good stay, whilst respecting your privacy. Lakmal took us to Polonnaruwa, and he not only drove us around , but he also gave us lots of insightful information and pointed out our first elephant spotting in Sri Lanka! Would 100% recommend. The food was amazing as well, and they were great with my gluten allergy. A big thank you to you and your family Lakmal! Would 100% recommend :)

Lakmal and his family are great hosts, efficient but above all, simply lovely people. Lakmal helped me to do and see all the things I wished to during my stay. The family go above and beyond in their care of their guests.
