this is definitely a very special guesthouse especially due to the amazing hosts who were super helpful and kind. The breakfast and the dinner was really nice and the portions were huge. They helped us organise our trips and the host even did a trip with us to pollunawara and gave us a lot of information plus he drove us and two others to our next stop Kandy always giving us useful information on the way. It was truly amazing to find out so much about the area and the culture. The gardens are amazing and we saw monkeys, peacocks and squirrels. The rooms were spacious but you will definitely have to expect some wildlife hence it would have been great to have trash cans with a lid just in case you want to throw away some food. All in all we really enjoyed our stay there especially due to the great hospitality.

Everything was just perfect

I've spent only one night in this amazing and quite place. I still regret not to have been stayed more days. The resort is beautiful and the staff (family business) is so kind and happy. They do care what they are doing and they make you feel like home. Room was perfect, clean and well equipped and food was just unbelievably good, so tasty. 100% recommended to stay there if you pass by Sigiriya.

Fantastic natural setting, incredibly helpful hosts. Only 1.2kms from the main restaurant stretch - an easy walk or a short tuk tuk ride. We had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend. By far the most accommodating hosts we’ve had in Sri Lanka.

Wifi stability could be improved, however in such a nice environment you don’t need that much internet ;).

Very nice cabin with a feeling to be midst in the jungle, breakfast is amazing (we loved the coconut pancakes and fresh fruit from the owner’s own garden), and do treat yourself to have at least one time diner at the property. The owner is very helpful when you want to arrange i.e. early morning tuk tuk for climbing Sigiriya or Pidurangala.

Excellent villa stay in Sigiriya. We were greeted by Shalini on arrival and offered coffee before showing us to our room. Next mornings Sri Lankan breakfast was very generous and tasty. My son is an avid birder and found the garden birds life spectacular. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer than the 1 night.

It was a great place to stay for vacation in sigiriya.Lion rock was very near to the place and we had a great visit early in the morning. The place was neat and clean with delious homecooked food😊Mr Lakmal and his family treated us well and tookcare of every ask. He also helped us arranging the ride for us to travel across our planned destinations and gave some good suggestions for the day trip in sigriya.This is a must visit place if you are planning to visit Sigiriya and have some great srilankan food😊

The host was so lovely and attentive to us, I had accidentally booked for one person instead of two but this was sorted quickly and we were accommodated! Greeted with tea on arrival, lovely breakfast and dinner also provided. Close to a lot of the things to see in Sigiriya as well!

Very well maintained property. Rooms are sparkling clean. The bedroom, mattress, linen and the room setup are all you can expect from any top star hotels and I was pleasantly surprised as they were even beautiful than they are in the photos. The owners are a lovely family. They will make sure you are comfortable right from the moment you arrive. They accommodated our dinner request at a short notice. We enjoyed talking to them. Lakmal has a very bright future with his hospitality endeavours. All the best!

Wow if you are looking for a real Sri Lankan homestay experience this is the place to stay, it has been a real highlight of our trip! Lakmal and his lovely family (Momma and Papa and his wife and daughter) cannot do enough for you and are so friendly and speak very good English. The bungalows set around the pretty garden are great for spotting birds and listening to the wildlife. The homemade breakfasts are superb as are the amazing dinners they cook for you, all Sri Lankan dishes, so tasty and well presented and will cater for any dietary requests or preferences. They are just finishing a kitchen to do cooking lessons with Lakmal's Mum which will be a great addition. Lakmal even picked us up from Mount Lavinia and arranged our onward trip to Kandy, very responsive to messages and then via WhatsApp, always going above and beyond, super helpful. Easy to walk or tuk-tuk to the Sigiriya Rock. Amazing experience and lovely family that are happy to chat with you and also give you plenty of privacy if you prefer. I highly recommend booking here for your Sigiriya stay, it's more than just a place to stay it's a real homestay experience to remember forever.

Everything was great, nothing we didn’t like.

We loved our stay at Liyon Rest, Lakmal and his family made us very welcome and are just lovely. Our cabin/room was spacious, very clean, super comfortable and had air conditioning. Location was great, quiet and off the road. Approx 2.5km to the entrance to Sigiriya rock. We had our own transport, but if you g don’t then Lakmal can help your organise it. We had issues with our tuk tuk, so he helped us find a mechanic to do repairs. The food was delicious, cooked by Lakmals mother. We stayed an extra night here and did a day trip to Polonnarua rather than staying there. A great stay, one of our favourite in SL so far.
