If other guests in the other room are loud, you can hear it. Dogs barking, but that’s everywhere in sri lanka. Location is great for the views! If you come by car you might have to stop on the main road and walk down and up. On foot, there’s a convenient set of steps that takes you to the rails and you can walk along them into the village

Simple and clean room with stunning views of the mountains and waterfall, nestled up a hill overlooking the village, close to the railway. The hosts are an old couple, you will be contacted by someone who speaks english on whatsapp and you can always message them with anything you need (we only needed wifi password). Very flexible with check-in times. Nice breakfast is included!

I had such an amazing sleep in Neon Sky Nest. In the morning, you'd only get gently woken up by the sound of the waterfall and the birds. You'd then be served the generous and delicious breakfast served by the lovely host on your terrace in front of the view... And I mean what a view!!! If you use the train tracks as the locals do, everything is really close by - from town, from Ella Rock or from great restaurants.

As others have noted you need a 4WD car or off road motorcycle to get up the driveway so better if you are taking public transit and taxis.

It's 10x better than it looks in the pictures. Amazing view out over the waterfall. You can hear the waterfall. Bed is also really comfortable. This is one of the nicest places I've stayed in Sri Lanka. The old couple who run it are really cute and the breakfast is a multi course feast! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It was not far to walk to the train station, centre of town and there is a yoga place nearby also.

It's still okay, but You Just can't get with the car exactly to the stay. You Will probably need additional 50-200m by walk, depending on the kind of your transport to the stay. ✌🏽

Getting to the property with luggage can be tricky, some driver’s wouldn’t be able to drive on the narrow and steep road. But it is doable.

No hot water and Ella can get very cold. Access to property is not easy (walk along the train tracks, don’t follow google maps).

The view is insane. Bed is comfy. Breakfast was excellent. Very close to Ella Rock trailhead.

Perfect positioning for the view and peace and quiet. Like everywhere with a great view you have to negotiate narrow roads, steep hills and uneven paths but it is worth it. It’s exceptional value for money with breakfast. When you arrive you might be shocked to see the age of the hosts but they work well as a team and just want to please you. PickMe does work in the area but they add an additional cost to the quoted price. The host does have access to a Tuk Tuk but unfortunately the driver was sick 😷

Don’t use Google maps to find the address as it took us to a different location. Follow the directions via the confirmation email.

Wonderful homestay with a jungle Mountain View, can even see a waterfall when it’s rainy too. Warm auntie who served us tea and a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Couldn’t be happier, we would stay there our whole trip if we could. Clay Pot restaurant was a few minute walk down the train tracks and the town is a 5 minute walk away too.

Highly recommended! The owner is a sympathetic guy, takes care of you, the breakfast- beside it was delicious, eating breakfast with this view was spectacular experience. Clean and comfortable- you can enjoy the noises of jungle and relax on the terrace with a stunning view!

It was a bit more run down than I had expected based on pictures and the room was a tad dirty. My sheets had yellow and brown stains all over them and the floor always left your bare feet brown. However, when I informed the host about the dirty sheets, they came immediately to change them. So honestly the great service and attitude of the staff made up for any shortcomings in other areas. Overall enjoyed my stay.

The location is fantastic for exploring Ella. A 5-minute walk from the main road through the train tracks. The room was spacious, bed was comfy and the staff were very acommodating. The view is what made it worth the money – stunning scenery over the mountains right outside your windows!

There were a couple of basic issues ( broken showerhead, dysfunctional power plug and very erratic unreliable Wi-Fi connection) which made my 3 days stay a bit difficult. Even though I reported them within the first ten minutes after checkin. Every day another family member came to inspect the showerhead in my bathroom ( which was simply clearly not repairable) yet nothing was being done in the end. The other issues I dropped , because I didn’t want any additional disturbances. (Instead I used my phone prepaid and made do with the power plug high up in the wall….)

The view is beautiful. The owners are doing their best. They lovingly prepare breakfast for each of their guests everyday and serve it at the requested hour.
