Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsSuch a nice hostel!! Lovely host family, they are more than happy to help you with anything. Great tips on where to go and what to do. The location of the hostel is great. 5 min walk to city and super close to main bus stops, I could just walk to the hostel with my backpack. But it feels so serene in the hostel garden, with chill hammocks, many beautiful birds to spot, and many wild animals just walking around. Would definitely recommend! :)

United StatesCalm place, very friendly owner, very nice breakfast (made vegan) for 500Rs. ~5 min to big Cargills, ~10 mins to bus stop, ~35 to cave temple. Beds have mosquito nets, small individual fans, sockets. Big lockers. Saw a peacock and mongooses in the backyard! (FYI - last bus back from Sigiriya is apparently ~5:30)

United KingdomThe bathroom had some dirt falling from the roof so the floor was always a bit dirty. Would be good to have a squeegee to make the bathroom dry after a shower

NetherlandsLovely family is running the hostel. The hostel has a big garden with nice hammocks. The breakfast is cheap (500 lkr) and really good! You eat it in the garden which is a fun and nice way to meet the other travelers. The host can arrange trips for you which are a good price. Like a tuktuk to the cave temple and Sigriya rock afterwards. Met fun people in this place and played Singalese games with the children. Absolutely loved the stay!

TurkeyI would like to have a towel for free, but it could cost more money. (200 rupee, if I remember correctly.) The location is somehow confusing, In the evening, there is no light on the road. I went to a family house first, then I could find the real place. Then I realized there was a sign. But in the daylight, it's very easy to find.
One of the cleanest places in Sri Lanka. The bed was super comfy. There is a big supermarket nearby.

The hostel is absolutely beautiful!! It's a bit further from the main road hurdled in nature which makes it a relief away from the busy city. Breakfast was made vegan for me and so delicious!!! Highly recommend.

IndiaThe host is amazing. It's really a home and not just any hostel. I wish I had more time to soak in all the nature vibes relaxing on the hammock, listening to distant crickets at night and chirping birds in the morning. Ranjith makes genuine effort (and succeeds) in helping out his guests as comfortably as possible. I am glad that I stumbled upon this property. He arranges tuk tuks at any time of the day and night ! Nearest bus stand is 10 min walk but if you are visiting cave temple ,lion rock and other surrounding places its better you arrange for tuk tuk as a package for all rides instead of individual trips.

AustraliaI spent two nights here. So peaceful. The owner is an absolute legend. Very helpful. I spent a day checking out the cave temple and the rest of Dambulla. Main grocery only 5 mins walk away. The kitchen was great to cook my own dishes. Also can do laundry here too. Nice big fan in the room to keep everyone cool at night.
