All the doors seem to slam when closing the door to your room or opening cupboard doors, the noise can echo in the corridor, making it quite noisy.

Excellent view of Ella rock, good location, a few minutes walk to the main restaurants and bars and a 10/15 minute tuk tuk to most activities. The staff were very friendly. Good choice of breakfast with fresh juice, fruit and an egg station. Comfy bed as well as toiletries in the room.

Excellent hotel with one of the best views we had in Sri Lanka. You can see Ella Rock and Little Adams Peak out of the window! Rooms are comfy and the staff are pleasant.

Positives Location Comfortable bed and pillows Lovely room and view - liked the minimalist and sustainable vibes The bathroom was lovely, sliding shower door uses the space wisely. Strong AC Staff lovely and always ready to help and assist. Security is very visible which is helpful. Didn’t mind the noise because they are still building the hotel. We were told they are building more rooms, and infinity pool and a rooftop bar. Negatives Not really negatives just things to improve as the hotel gets more popular: Balcony door didn’t seal when locked so quite a few bugs came and joined us. Tv inaccessible-we could only use YouTube. We had to give our key over to have the room key-there should be duplicates or a master key. Hot water was an issue at night but no so much in the late afternoon. Breakfast could have a better selection given that the restaurants on the street are providing breakfast for a pretty cheap price. Three small steep hills in order to reach the hotel-manageable for us but needs to be advertised for those with accessibility issues. What they’re charging at the moment doesn’t justify the price, however when it is complete, it will.

The staff were very helpful, kind and friendly. The view from our room was incredible. We faced Ella's Rock and Little Adam's Peak. It's a very steep hill to walk up but a tuk tuk will take you if you struggle to climb it. Breakfast choice was good and plentiful.

Steep hill up to the hotel

Beautiful room and balcony. Exceptionally clean. 5 minute walk from the main strip in Ella town. There is a steep hill to walk up and down to get to it but other than that it was perfect and felt very safe.

Jaw dropping view from our huge room. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Was about 300m down the hill to the main street, and a couple of dollars in a tuk tuk back up the steep hill to the hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Shower is a bit small. One day with the packed breakfast there was a fly in my sandwich. The swimming pool is still not open and appears to be taking significantly longer to build.

Great location - it is up a small hill but it is walkable and you can also easily get tuk tuks if you don’t want to walk it. Nice breakfast area/views and breakfast itself was nice with a good selection. Lovley view from the rooms which are tastefully decorated.

We were not aware of the construction work going on at the hotel.

The hotel is situated up a steep road, but close to the town with all the shops and restaurants. We took a tuk tuk up and down. The staff are all welcoming, friendly, and professional . They made our stay memorable. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed. The view from our room and balcony was spectacular. Breakfast and the buffet dinner were very good with lots of choice. Hope to revisit once the rooftop pool and bar are completed.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel on the Rock. The highlight was definitely the stunning view from my top-floor room, overlooking the valley – absolutely breathtaking! The location is perfect, just a short 5-minute walk to the center of Ella, making it easy to explore. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The only downside was the breakfast, which was quite basic, but overall, the experience was fantastic. Highly recommended for the views and hospitality!

Our shower didn’t have any hot water and it was quite loud in the morning as door didn’t fit properly.

Our bed was a bit hard. Need to add some mattress toppers and an option for different pillows.

The staff were amazing, couldn't have done more for us. The views from the room were breathtaking - this is what you pay for and it's worth it. The breakfast was delicious - the traditional sri lankan food was so tasty and they served a cracking omelette. Great location to head to all the main tourist spots in Ella.

There was some building work taking place that we didn’t know about beforehand. It didn’t detract from our stay and we understand that they are improving the hotel with swimming pools.

The location is stunning. The welcome that we received on arrival and care by the team throughout our stay was exceptional. The choice of food at breakfast was a great mix of local and international cuisine. We also had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious.

They don’t have a ramp to access with a wheelchair even though that was perfectly possible on the side of reception. The way to the hotel is very inclined.

Great facilities and very clean, the view of our room was amazing, without words, just that view made the visit to Ella worth it, but not all the rooms have the same outstanding view. The breakfast was great with enough variety, the staff were lovely, kind and attentive. The hotel has an elevator. Good location.
