Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBrilliant stay with a stunning view. Very good value and delicious breakfast. The family could not have been kinder. I accidentally left my bag on the train and they did everything they could to help. I will 100% be back to stay!

GermanyWe booked the Deluxe Double room with balcony. The room was very big with a great view. Bathroom was large, modern and clean. Location was good, always short tuk tuk ride anywhere. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. They picked us up from the train station. Classic breakfast, nothing special but good. Expect some stairs to the upper rooms. Also a staircase gives access to the main road. (Expect stairs anywhere in Ella)

IrelandReally nice family run Guesthouse. Stunning location on the Mountain side. Terrific welcome, with a lovely cup of Cinnamon tea. The breakfast was fantastic and enough for 2. Beautifully cut fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juice. With pancakes, Omelette and toast. Proper set up for the day. The walk to the town, literally only took me 18 minutes and I finer walk you would be hard pressed to find. Although I wouldn't fancy it going home in the dark. Tuk tuks are abundant and drivers are all reasonable.

FranceWe didn't realise at the beginning that there is a shortcut to this place so we did some morning cardio before arriving there, but once we realised there is a shortcut, we skipped the sporty part ..;) The place is fantastic! We stayed there as a family of 7 (different rooms) and all the rooms were clean and comfortable to stay. You can wash & hang your clothes as well. The view is breathtaking and the breakfast was just an extra bonus we appreciated a lot:) thank you everyone, we are hoping to be able to return one day:)

GermanyThe rooms are a bit noisy and the wifi is not very good.
If you're looking for accommodation that's a little out of the noisy centre of Ella, this is the place for you. The view of the mountains and deep into the valley is unique. It offers a quiet retreat and the hosts are very friendly and accommodating. We had consistently warm to hot water and wonderful sunrises. There was a brief power cut during our stay, but this was quickly rectified by power generators. The accommodation is very easy to reach by tuk-tuk and it is not suitable for walking from the centre. From the main road, a 150 metre long staircase, which is quite steep, leads up to the accommodation. A tuk-tuk to the stairs costs around 500 rupees. If you want to go directly to the accommodation by TukTuk, you will pay around 1000 rupees for the quite “adventurous” journey. Prices are slightly higher at night. The PickMe app only works to a limited extent in Ella, but you will find plenty of transport options on every corner. We had a very nice stay and are happy to recommend the accommodation to others.

VietnamThe bathroom lacked hot water, and accessing the property proved challenging, requiring a tuk-tuk (though the owner helpfully arranged transport, especially considering our luggage).
We had a wonderful two-night stay (two rooms). The owner was incredibly helpful, arranging for our rooms to be next to each other. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with clean, comfy beds. The highlight was undoubtedly the stunning sunrise views of the mountains and Adam's Peak, often with a beautiful morning mist. The location was perfect—close enough to the center for convenience, yet far enough to enjoy peace and quiet after a busy day. The welcoming drinks, delicious breakfasts, and laundry service were all much appreciated. Highly recommend!

RussiaWe were travelling by car and that’s almost impossible to drive direct to the hotel, it’s very steep and narrow way with turns. Tuk tuk usually bring you to the steps in jungle. It’s nice but also very steep way up, about 5-7 min climb. Water is warming by sun, so we had cold water because of raining few days. There wasn’t a mosquito net in our room (in other rooms I’ve seen them).
That’s very nice hotel in on mountain surrounded by jungle. Staff was very helpful and nice. We had room on second floor so we got good view. Room was clean and had enough space.

IrelandIf you’re looking for a truly exceptional experience in Ella, look no further than Pearl View Guest House. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place offers more than just a stay—it offers a genuine taste of Sri Lankan hospitality. The staff here are absolutely incredible. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and always went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Their warmth and generosity reflect the true spirit of Sri Lanka, and it really made our time here feel special. Our room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, with every detail considered for a comfortable stay. It was so refreshing to return to such a clean and peaceful space after exploring the area. Now, the breakfast—what a treat! Fresh, delicious, and perfectly prepared, it was the ideal way to start each day. Whether it was a hearty Sri Lankan breakfast or lighter options, it was always satisfying and flavorful. But the highlight of this guest house is, without a doubt, the view. The vistas here are simply breathtaking—truly some of the best in all of Ella. From the terrace, you can enjoy panoramic views of lush greenery and rolling hills. The sunrise is particularly magical, bathing the landscape in golden light—it’s an experience you won’t forget. Although Pearl View is a little outside of the town center, this is actually a huge plus. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, offering peace, tranquility, and an incredible connection with nature. The extra distance is well worth it for the stunning surroundings and the serene atmosphere. Overall, Pearl View Guest House exceeded all expectations. If you’re visiting Ella and want a peaceful, memorable retreat with amazing hospitality, this is the place to be. 100% recommended!

United Arab EmiratesAs the guesthouse is a high up on the hill above the town, many of the tuc-tuc drivers did not know where it was or were unable to drive all the way to the door. A couple of times we were dropped at the bottom of a set of steps which may present a problem for some people.
Excellent size rooms and a good standard of cleanliness
