The view from this homestay is incredible, you can see Ella Rock, Little Adam’s peak and a waterfall. It was lovely to sit on the swing chair and look at the mountains. We had breakfast twice during our stay and it was lovely both times. The family are very friendly and hospitable, with a very sweet dog Ruby. It is about a 10 min walk into town along the train tracks, I would recommend staying out of Ella town as it is quite busy, this area is very peaceful. Only negative is that whilst the view is incredible, the bathroom was quite smelly and felt a bit unclean.

The view was exceptional and the family were so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a room on the top level and spent nice time on our private balcony and swing chair. The breakfast was very good. Lovely family! Good room.

Perfect retreat in the mountains of Ella. Perfect stay if you want a peaceful relaxing stay, just outside of the centre. We got the deluxe room with balcony and the swing on the balcony was wonderful to highlight. Beds super comfy and staff were amazing, so helpful and kind.

Our stay at Secret View was perfection. Such an amazing balcony and view, we felt really spoiled! The room was also comfortable and had everything we needed. The hosts were also incredibly accommodating and friendly, making sure we had the best stay, and even gave us a packed lunch and water when we left. Very kind homestay and beautiful place.

Book this homestay! Wonderfully located just a 10 minute walk (or 5 min tuk) from Ella town, the homestay is in an amazing location and extremely peaceful. The room had everything you’d need, from a mini bar (at great prices) to TV, but what really made it was the private balcony with swing to watch the nature and the sunset. The hosts were very kind and put on a great breakfast spread each day for us, as well as helping us with tips during our stay and organising onward transport for us. The rooms don’t have AC but come with a fan and the mountain clime (in Feb) meant a fan worked well. As the homestay advertises, there are quite a few steps to the property but it is so worth it and the hosts were very helpful with our luggage so this wasn’t an issue. We hope to be back again!

My favorite place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Wonderful view from the balcony, more beautiful in real life than in the pictures. Nice hosts, welcomed us with hot tea in rainy weather. I hope to get here again sometime in my life♥️

Lovely hosts who were very welcoming and hospitable. They helped us out with recommendations for what to do in Ella and also gave us a ride to town on our last day. They have a home with incredible view and it was so nice to be able to enjoy tea and breakfast on the verandah. The room was perfect for us and we’d definitely recommend it.

A big THANK YOU to our wonderful host and her lovely family for our stay in Ella. Everything was perfect and we felt very welcomed. We had a comfortable bed, an incredible view with a super cozy patio just in front of our room and the location is in a quiet and peaceful area. We already hope to come back some day soon!

Bathroom wasn’t great - wet room that didn’t drain, hard to get dry and poor lighting. Our mistake but it wasn’t super clear from the Homestay listing and the communication that breakfast isn’t included at this Homestay.

Great location, walkable to Ella centre ( if you go via the train tracks!). Nice roof terrace and excellent views for breakfast. Our hosts sorted laundry for us and made that very easy as well as sorting tuk tuk rides for us.

The only “negative” is actually probably more of a positive. Which is that it’s not directly in the city center. But that means it’s very quiet and the 10-15 min walk to the city center is a path along a cool train track.

This place was great. The view is stunning.. you can see for miles, including a waterfall in the distance. It was very clean. The hospitality exceeded expectations with great breakfast and laundry service onsite.

Amazing view! Very helpfull and friendly host. Very good breakfast. Perfect place for exploring Ella. Very good price for what you get. Host was so friendly and helpfull with everything we asked. Couldnt have had a better stay here, truly perfect. Host even checked for us if the sunrise was good. If not he wouldve let us sleep but it was beautyfull so he woke us up! Perfect.
