Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsMy garden view was more on drive lane, but who’s going to sit inside to watch outside.
Owner and staff are very helpfull and friendly, The room was clean and contained all that was advertised. They made me a go-to breakfast for the safari. They have bicycles for rent so you go around the lakes (except lake Tissa). They have a parking and a enormous good breakfast.

It was one of the best stays in SL. It’s close to shops and an easy drive to Yala NP . The staff are wonderful. The pool looks amazing but unfortunately we didn’t have time to use it. We had dinner there and it was delicious. Great showers too.

United KingdomOnly very minor point is that wifi coverage was patchy but really not a big issue.
Exceptional service from the manager - Shantha. Nothing was too much trouble - on the first evening he took us on a tuk tuk ride to see sunset and bats flying over a nearby lake, and he organised a series of excellent trips into the national parks. (The packed breakfasts that he sent in these could have kept us going all day). The hotel was spotless with an excellent pool - a really excellent stay.

NetherlandsWiFi was not very reliable
Spotless swimming pool which was nice in the heat of Tissa. Location close to both lakes to see the bats and sunset and close to Smoky Kitchen restaurant. Also breakfast was great. Shantha is a great guy who makes you feel at home right away. He gave me a private tour around the lakes and dropped me off at the bus station for my onward journey.

AustraliaIf you have a driver then location is OK, albeit no town to talk of. The safari is a bit of the rort, albeit not booked by hotel (which I think disappointed them). I dont understand the pricing. Also the 4am wake up is pointless. Because the park gate doesn't open till 6am.
Big hotel layout with plenty of relaxing space. Pool was good. Nice hotel is a strange location. The local restaurant- smokey kitchen down the road is the only real option and worth while. The hotel was very generous offering the facilities post checkout upon return from safari at 11am. 1 night was fine.

United KingdomThe room was small and though there nice communal areas where you could relax, they were too warm as the air conditioning was only on during breakfast.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Comfortable bed, good shower with excellent water pressure and air conditioning was reliable. The breakfast was very good and catered for both European and Sri Lankan tastes. The pool was always clean and towels available. The manager was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, he advised on local places to visit arranging any transport by tuck tuck or car that was required. Most importantly, he made sure we paid a reasonable price, one evening he drove the tuk tuk to the place we’d chosen to eat to make sure we got there and picked us up afterwards. The manager of the Serenity Tissa was fantastic and went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our stay in Tissa. This hotel has a generator which comes into action during power cuts so when the whole of Sri Lanka’s electricity network went down, we were fine. I highly recommend the Serenity Tissa for your stay.

The hotel has standard facilities with AC, hot water, towels, and shower gel with shampoo. They treated us very well and the manager is nice. He arranged for us a safari as well when I requested at the last moment. Safari driver was so nice and patient. He has done a great job, and we enjoyed it a lot.

United KingdomWe stayed at Serenity Tissa for one night during our Yala safari trip, and it far exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, with a lovely balcony and air conditioning. The pool was set in peaceful surroundings, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. What truly made our stay special, though, was the exceptional service from Shantha. Despite not booking our safari in advance, he arranged everything last minute, including a private jeep for a 5am pickup and a packed breakfast. Our safari guide, Squirrel, was fantastic, offering insightful knowledge that made the wildlife experience even more memorable. Shantha also helped us organize a trip to Kataragama through Tuk Tuk Rental Tissa at a great price, and our driver, Muthumala, was wonderful, ensuring we reached the temple safely. Additionally, Shantha arranged a private taxi to Ella at a better rate than we had found ourselves. A huge thank you to Shantha and the team for making our stay so memorable. We highly recommend Serenity Tissa for anyone visiting the area!

AustraliaNothing, can't fault it.
-The manager Shantha and the staff were excellent. Shantha was very helpful, organising our safari for the next morning and drove us to the bus station when we checked out. -Excellent room, good size, separate shower from the rest of the bathroom, fridge, comp water, tea & coffee, kettle, hairdryer. -Really nice pool in relaxing garden setting -Small but very good gym with decent selection of machines and free weights. -Given a packed breakfast both mornings as we had very early starts for safari and bus -The hotel is in a good location, close to food options, bus station and shops Overall, an incredible stay, we wish we could've stayed longer. Best place we've stayed so far in Sri Lanka after 2 weeks

AustraliaThis is a great budget hotel that has the added benefit of a very clean pool. The shower was hot and the best we had in Sri Lanka in our first week, Breakfast was amazing especially the Dhal. Shantha the host was easy to communicate with and arranged our tour of Yala and our ongoing transport to Tangelle at a very fair price. We found Shantha to be an honest man that cared about his guests. Overall the stay was a very pleasant one and we would stay here again.
