We thought there was also a restaurant, but that was close because of ‘off season’. The beds at the pool are not really comfortable and damaged.

In the middle of the jungle. Only sound of peacocks and other birds. A lot of nice places to relax and a nice swimming pool. With a tuktuk or bike you are in the main street in 5-10mins.

Would highly recommend a stay at Sigiriya Cottage, the team are friendly and can help you arrange transport and excursions easily. The setting is serene and the pool is great, good restaurants within walking distance or on site food is also good. Try to make time to use their bikes to do the recommended loop around the lakes, you will see beautiful scenery and be greeted by friendly locals.

This was a perfect stay. We were welcomed my the lovely staff - we arrived a little earlier than expected and they sorted us out a gorgeous traditional Sri Lankan breakfast - this was the best breakfast we had the whole trip! Every day was slightly different. The staff were great at helping us organise tuk tuk and trips. The offer complimentary bikes to cycles around the area which is so gorgeous and a must! The locals were all waving at us as we explored and it had such a lovely feel! The pool was a lovely addition to cool down after days of hiking! The location is perfect for the activities and also wandering to local restaurants and bars. However the food is so good at the hotel we actually ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here!

It is like an oasis after a busy day of travel or sightseeing. We loved it. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool is beautiful and the staff will help you with anything you need to arrange like trips, drivers etc. I miss it already!

I wouldn’t recommend having dinner there. We didn’t like it at all and we had to return fish which wasn’t fresh. Which was weird because breakfast was really tasty.

The rooms were very clean and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was really tasty and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner helped us a lot with planning our days and their transport services were in good prices. We were very happy with the amenities. Mosquito nets on a bed was extremely helpful:) There is no cleaning of the room which was not a problem for us but it might be for some people.

From the moment we arrived and were greeted with cold flannels and fruit juice, we felt like we were in heaven. The hosts at Sigirya Cottage went above and beyond to make our stay special. Being a short drive away from both Lion Rock and Pidurangala - it was a perfect base to explore the stunning scenery. We visited Dumbala Cave Temples on the way to the cottage and this was also really close by, so a perfect base for visiting the cultural sites in the area. We were treated to a Sri Lankan cooking lesson, learning how to make hoppers, coconut roti and delicious curry. The accommodation has bikes which they hire out for free and there’s an absolutely gorgeous 7km cycle route which takes in stunning views of the gorgeous network of lakes and Lions Rock in the distance. The pool was a welcome source of refreshment in the heat. We stayed in the family room which was nice and big and super clean. Nearby you can walk to several small restaurants where we enjoyed banana and mango lassi! While we didn’t take advantage of them - there is a lovely semi outdoor gym in the grounds of the cottage. We really liked the fact there wasn’t many rooms so the cottage didn’t feel overcrowded - a lovely boutique feel. They did not offer driver accommodation but this didn’t cause any issues as there are options locally for drivers. I wouldn’t hesitate in coming back here to stay when we next visit Sri Lanka!

Very clean hotel, beautiful grounds and nothing is ever too much for the team here. Aircon was great, location was perfectly near all restaurants and main attractions. We were welcomed so warmly and given cold towels and watermelon juice and tips on how to get the best out of our stay. Breakfast was amazing too. I am pretty fussy with hotels but this place was wonderful! Super clean and well looked after lovely hotel. You truly feel like you are immersed in nature. The owner has built a wonderful experience here, he did so much for us to help us and was so kind. He made us feel so welcome and even managed to organise a last minute driver to Ella for us. Would return!

We found price/ quality a bit out of balance. There was quite some mold in the shower. We missed seats in the room in case of rainy weather.

We really liked this place. The garden was beautiful. The rooms are spacious. We also liked the fitness facilities. We weren’t that lucky with the weather (a lot of rain), which was quite challenging, but the staff was very friendly and was thinking along about what we could do. They really made you feel welcome. Because of the weather we also didn’t also use the pool, but it looked amazing.

Nothing everything was perfect

The perfect place to stay in Sigiriya! We arrived as guests and left as family! Sanje and his staff are absolutely amazing. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy and your needs are met. Whether you are there to relax by the beautiful pool or site see to the famous rock and local attractions Sigiriya cottage will not disappoint! They have a restaurant where they serve a nice variety of choices. Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka, we were sad to leave. Until next time, thank you 🙏

There was an occasional smell from the bathroom drain, though nothing that would significantly impact the overall experience.

The best part of our stay was the host, who went above and beyond to help us organize excursions and transportation. His advice was truly invaluable. The accommodation itself was nice — clean and comfortable. The spacious yard and swimming pool are available for all guests to enjoy. We didn’t try the food, but the coffee was fantastic! Guests also have the option to borrow bicycles free of charge, which is a great bonus.

Quiet garden, clean…you can easily walk to Sigiriya from it and we took free bicycles next day to Pidirungala. The owner helped us to organise a last minute driver because the previous driver cancelled(Pickme). Very fair advices and price for transport!
