Advertising- We thought it was nicer in person than appeared on the first photos on booking.com, but if you scroll through you can see the nice facilities offered Gym- has a bench, barbell, dumbbells and, cardio equipment and a few pulleys. Basic but able to do a full workout, air conned, not busy Beach- rocky and rough waves, lovely backdrop and sounds. more sandy beach is short walk just outside hotel, we had a baby and didn't venture this far. View- overlooking sea with sunsets and palm trees. Fencing could be updated to be more decorative. Lovely water display in lobby, comparable to the sea view. Make sitting in the bar very nice Security- very secure and friendly Staff- always smiling, typical great Sri Lanka hospitality Food- great choice of western/eastern dishes. Two cafes with separate menus down by pool and buffet in restraunt. Entertaimment- we didn't use mich but could see they had available. Had live music in the evenings at the bar and offered sports and activities Cleanliness - very clean, some tiny tiny little insect in room but this seems to be all over the country, partly expected due to the climate. Good air con Price-it was a very affordable price and comparable to expensive 5 star hotels we have stayed in previously. Cheaper than similar hotels.

What we don’t like are these Tourist Temples. This Propery is a very big one and there are mostly older people who run to the buffet. We don’t like that mass processing character. I wasn’t recognized that situation when I booked the Hotel. So according to that situation we wouldn’t join the hotel again, I guess.

First of all I will try to evaluate the factual situation: the hotel is in an very good condition. The employees work a lot in the facilities and belonging to that reason the property has a good condition. The stuff (everyone) was super!! friendly. So we had a proper stay.

Stayed 30 minutes for checking until they figure out my reservation. No welcome drink, at the lotus restaurant area rates were expensive, and orders a soup and seafood platter and soup was horrible . Sent it back to test and they told me they added too much white wine. But that’s not true.. tastes like expired fresh milk added to it. :(

The rate was fabulous, The room was clean, cosy, Nice sea view with balcony with top rated breakfast. Lots of variety. :)

The beach has been washed away and although it's unavailable we were disappointed that we weren't made fully aware of this. Although we adapted and didn't let it spoil our time in a lovely hotel

At the check-in the supervisor at the reception treated me like I haven’t been to a hotel and rude, I felt that is because I am a Sri Lankan( a local even though I am also a Canadian which he doesn’t know). That made me upset at the checking. Rest of the staff was really nice. Only thing I would like to see extra thing in the room was an iron.

The dinner buffet was seated at two different times which was not ideal. Wish it was an open buffet to walk in during the open hours.

Slightly noisy A/C due to the age, but the sea views and sound of crashing waves make up for it.

With its heavy teak wood furnishings and old timer charm this is a wonderful hotel to stay in Kalutara. We spent 4 nights there and had a great time. the property is lovely with the pool, lush green courtyard and also a natural lagoon!. Watch out for the resident monitor lizard. This is mostly a family oriented hotel for the local tourists. The service and courtesy of the staff was also up to the mark, although the cafe staff is overworked. The only drawback is the beach access is closed off probably due to strong waves and undercurrents in this stretch. Couple of restaurants and shop just outside the hotel within walkable distance. The breakfast is a wide and delicious spread. No complaints there. Rooms are spacious, clean Would recommend this hotel if travelling with family.

most aspects of our stay were pleasant, one incident left us disappointed. We had brought some seafood from outside since it wasn’t available at the hotel. When we asked the staff to heat it, they initially agreed but then returned it without doing so. This was surprising, as most other hotels we’ve stayed at have accommodated such requests without issue. It would be great if the hotel could revisit its policies to offer more flexibility for guests. Other than this, the stay was comfortable, but this incident stood out as a letdown.

This hotel is an oldie… buy a real golden oldie. I’ve been to it over 40 years ago and it was an even better now than it was then. Will done Tangerine beach. I now live in Australia and will be recommending your hotel to my friends.

The AC takes a while to get going, the room is due an upgrade such as newer/larger TV upstairs.

The room had a beautiful layout with large spacious lounge and second floor above with comfortable double bed.

Only slight negative was that I didn't realise how little beach there was outside the hotel, but this is hardly worth mentioning.

Beautiful room, I was upgraded to a junior suite which was a treat. I really enjoyed the pool and a couple of quick dips in the sea. Breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and included something for every taste. The staff were gracious and helpful. A lovely break.
