Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI would have given a 10 but 3 incidents were really upsetting and unforgivable. 1. The staff entered the room when we were out, without our permission or notice. This, for me, is a deal breaker. Was very very upset about this. I paid for this privacy and you invaded it. 2. The staff entered the room AGAIN, while we were out, to leave the laundry inside (!!????) There was a table outside the room - they could have put it there or better yet, wait upon our arrival. Bizarre how they feel they can enter the room. I'm paying for the privacy. No notice or permission either time. 3. On 2 occasions, I finished the food and asked the staff to collect the dishes from outside our room - they said no problem. On both occasions, the food sat outside all night attracting insects and crows. Crows that ate the leftovers and made a mess on our clothes that were drying overnight. The manager apologised but these issues reoccurred which made it difficult to forgive. They could have given us a late checkout or something for the inconvenience but no. Also, the rooms need a little TLC. Our key didn't work from inside (to lock the door) and the staff said just use the internal lock. The drain in the bathroom was very slow. The water around the hotel oxidised many components of the rooms. WiFi was poor
Room was huge. Comfy bed. Lovely staff (for the most). Great breakfast. Facilities were top. They had a buggy to take/bring us to and from the beach.

IndiaThe thing we didn't like the most was that the kitchen team refused to heat up outside food for us - we had children with us and we gave them food to heat at dinner and they were not willing to oblige - in-spite of the manager instructing his kitchen team to heat the food and give it to us - the kitchen still sent us back cold food and we had to feed our children cold food The hotel seems a bit jaded, it needs some sprucing up and more attention to cleanliness The following problems might be solved in the coming days: There is a power outage on weekdays from 6.15 pm tp 7.15 pm, which the reception informed us about and when we visited the generator was not functional They had some construction work going on and that sometimes made it noisy in the day The quality of coffee served at breakfast was weak and they could improve the beans / coffee powder they are using
First and Foremost - Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and really needs all the help from tourism to bounce back - so would encourage more people to visit and support the country The staff at the hotel were the real heroes - always smiling and willing to help out - special mention to the manager, the reception staff and the restaurant team The rooms are spacious, the bed & bathrooms are comfortable and the views from our room was amazing They served and excellent breakfast with all the extras one would want - made our children really happy

BrazilSlippery floors (due to humidity and ocean near by) in the rooms Little smell in the bathroom
Staff was very helpful and welcoming, they were very attentive, providing candles during the power cuts, and in general making up for the complex context. Long swimming pool with ocean view and open 24/7 a big plus. The commmodoties like the gym and the pool table also a nice touch. The treatments at the spa were very good too. The resort is a bit off the main roads which gives a retreat feeling but is still very close, 10min by foot from the main sand beach.

IndiaHotel is decent, we were miss informed about both the pools being saltwater (was told main pool was freshwater, and second pool was saltwater). Manager had the audacity to laugh at my face when I mentioned how both could be saltwater. No lift for the 2nd floor on one side of the property. Other staff were very polite and accommodating, but the point of both pools being salt water ruined the entire experience for us. Would not come back here as overall it was not worth my time and money. Food in breakfast also smelled funny, and was often left cold towards the end of the timing. Plus points like great view and proximity to the beach, along with a nice sports room.

IndiaExcellent hospitality, amazing food, perfect vibe. There are 2 pools in the resort which are very clean. This was the first time I experienced a sea water pool and I absolutely loved it. We got room no. 102 and what a beautiful view it had. The balcony opened to a beautiful view of the pool followed by the sea. Also, you can walk by to a small beachy setup which the resort has made which is lovely. We absolutely loved our stay in Thaproban and would surely return back on our next trip to Srilanka.

Canada-
We loved the friendly staff who connected with us ( Mahesh, Tharange, Laheroo and Sumitre) and made our stay even nicer. The sound of nature like the crashing waves against the rock by the salt water pool was just stunning. The view from the infinity pool was breathtaking. We also enjoyed the evening performances during dinner time. The family room we stayed in was spacious, bright and very clean. My kids can't stop talking about their great experience at this resort - a family friendly resort.

NetherlandsOur rooms 115 / 116 / 117 had poor views and were located in the back. We had NO HOT (or even warm) water in the showers and NO WIFI in the rooms, we made complaints for 2 days in a row and only after escalatiing to the manager they took action but could not resolve the issues. The manager offered a room change but as we onl had few nights to go that was too much of a hassle. Poor price quality and a lot of legacy maintenance to get this resort back up and running.
Thaproban Pavillion has beautiful sea views and is very close to a lively village with nice restaurants and shops. Close to nice beaches and many interesting activities nearby, we did whalewatching, turtle beach and playing Golf at Catalina Military Airport and a visit to Galle where definitly hightlights of our holiday. Apart from issues with the shower and the wifi see below the resort has nicely decorated rooms and two nice pools.

It was a very nice, clean, and spacious hotel. The family room had 2 levels plus a rooftop . Good for privacy when you stay with kids. Staff was very friendly and do what ever you asked. Traditional dance was fantastic at dinner. Prasad was a fantastic help to arrange dolphin and whale watching, even prep early breakfast. Highly recommended
