Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. It‘s not a social hostel really. The bed was rather hard.
The room was big, AC worked well, location is good. Nice that they had free drinking water.

Notging. Great value for money!
It's clean and rooms are AC'd and spacious. I very much appreciate big, lockable storage room under every bed. Nice and clean toaletts and showers. Coworking space is extra 2250. But the internet is really fast, no power outages and 2 americanos are included per day

Not a party happening place, gives sense of boring environment.
Location was good, dorms are excellent, washroom was much clean and hygienic, spacious and good vibe.

Extra pay for towles . Ac at night make room a fridge temperature. Need more of bed curtains and blanket as it was to cold with ac busting all night long

Exceptionally good hostel. Really clean and great quality furniture/fittings. The manager and staff were very friendly and hospitable - Manjeve was very generous with sharing meals and providing his company during the days he is there. Really fun vibe at the hostel. Kept clean despite people bringing in sand from the beach constantly. Priced appropriately for the high quality I was their last guest of 2024 and had an exceptional new year's eve thanks to the host's hospitality and wonderful people I met at the hostel. Ended up spending 3 nights in Mirissa!

We stayed here for 5 days and it was a perfect place to stay on a budget. The room was nice and clean, with spacious bathroom. The stuff is friendly and you get to meet other travelers.

Payment in cards could have been helpful.
Amazing stay, very well crafted for all your needs. We met the owner- Manjeev Uncle who was a hilarious man and more than that an amazing host. He'll give you the best recommendations for surf school and food places. We requested breakfast at the property and had coconut sambol and idiyappam which was delicious. The chef Mr. Suneeth was courteous enough to help us with our cooking needs. All in all a great stay at location nearby to both beach and market with amazing staff!

Nothing to complain.
The staf is really friendly and helpful. They will help you with anything. The place is really clean as well. They have filtered water, free of charge. Most hostels I’ve stayed in in Sri Lanka didn’t offer any filtered water. The location is ideal, it’s only a 3 minute walk to the busstop and the main road with all the shops and restaurants. The beach is not even a 10 minute walk. There is also a kitchen and fridge which guests can make use of. I planned to stay here a few days, but ended up staying for two weeks.

A small point: some lounge chairs and small, side tables in the open areas would be a nice option for guests.
Clean and quiet. Secure. Well maintained. Big rooms. Secluded yet highly convenient location midway between the beach and Mirissa’s main road of shops and services. Walking distance to everything. Attentive, friendly staff. The lodging is equipped with all the basic needs for a comfortable stay.
